Mario Manningham (ACL, PCL surgery) is not expected to return until late August. Manningham is six months removed from multiple knee surgeries and is a candidate to open the season on the reserve/PUP list. The 49ers expect him to be ready "at some point" in 2013. With Manningham sidelined, A.J. Jenkins will enter training camp as the favorite to start opposite Anquan Boldin.

49ers coach Jim Harbaugh expects Mario Manningham (ACL, PCL surgery) to be ready for the regular season "at some point." In other words, he's not putting a timeline on it. Manningham thinks he'll be ready for Week 1, but is still just five and a half months removed from tearing up his knee in Week 16. The 49ers are thin at receiver, but will be even thinner if they rush Manningham back and he suffers a setback.

Mario Manningham agreed to a pay cut to stay in San Francisco, slashing his base salary from $3.6 million to $1.8 million. Manningham is coming off ACL and PCL reconstruction, so he had no leverage. The total pay cut is actually $2.15 million because Manningham agreed to eliminate a $250,000 offseason roster bonus in addition to a $100,000 workout bonus. Manningham suffered the injury in Week 16 and is not expected to be healthy for training camp. Anything the 49ers get from him in 2013 will be a bonus.

49ers coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed at the Combine that Mario Manningham (ACL, PCL surgery) will not be ready for training camp. Manningham tore the multiple knee ligaments in Week 16, and we wouldn't be surprised if he opened the 2013 season on PUP. That's assuming he's not released with no guaranteed money left in his contract. The 49ers can't count on Manningham making an impact during the upcoming season, and will work around him.

CSN Bay Area doesn't expect Mario Manningham (ACL surgery) to return before the "latter stages" of camp. Even that might be bullish after Manningham went down in Week 16. Manningham is all but guaranteed to begin camp on the active/PUP list, and a definite candidate to spend the first six games of 2013 on reserve/PUP. Due roughly $4 million between salary and bonuses, it's not a given Manninghamm will be back in San Francisco, though the 49ers' weak receiver corps should work in his favor.

49ers placed WR Mario Manningham on injured reserve with left ACL and PCL tears, ending his season. Manningham will be questionable for 2013 training camp, and it's questionable whether he'll even make it that far as a 49er. His two-year contract signed in March was backloaded with non-guaranteed money, leaving the Niners on the hook for a $3.6 million base salary and $250,000 roster bonus. Manningham is also eligible for a $100,000 workout bonus based on offseason participation.

Mario Manningham will undergo an MRI on his left knee Monday. X-rays came back negative for a fracture on Sunday, but that doesn't tell us much. We'd be much more concerned about a ligament tear. If Manningham is unavailable for the NFL playoffs, the 49ers will have to lean on Randy Moss and keep first-round pick A.J. Jenkins active on game days.

X-rays on Mario Manningham's left knee came back negative. It's a tiny bit of good news, but only means he's avoided a fracture. An MRI will be necessary to determine ligament damage. It's extremely doubtful Manningham is back for Week 17, and quite possible his season is through. It would be terrible news for a 49ers team that's perilously thin at wideout. Manningham's status should be updated on Monday.
