Miami Dolphins safety Louis Delmas was placed on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday due to a knee injury, according to the Miami Herald. Delmas tore the ACL in his right knee for the second time in nine months, and his career could be in jeopardy as a result.

Miami Dolphins safety Louis Delmas likely suffered a torn ACL during Wednesday's practice and is expected to miss the entire 2015 season, according to the Miami Herald. Delmas went down during a one-on-one drill against Ted Ginn Jr. of the Carolina Panthers and was seen clutching his knee before he was helped off the field by team trainers. The 28-year-old also suffered a torn ACL last season and had been practicing with the team since June, just six months after undergoing surgery. “I’d say he’s one of the best leaders or he is the best leader on our team,” Dolphins receiver Rishard Matthews said. “He brings a lot of excitement to the game. I think everybody will tell you he’s just an exciting player to be around — from the top of the organization, the bottom of the organization, everybody says the same thing about him. It’s very, very, very, very unfortunate.” Delmas' injury still has not been confirmed, but he will undergo further testing and the team is preparing to be without him moving forward.

Dolphins general manager John Hickey said Delmas (knee) will be on the field for minicamp in June, Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post reports. Delmas is rehabbing a torn ACL suffered in early December, but the Dolphins' decision to re-sign him on a one-year, $3.5 million contract bodes well for the safety's chances to be ready by Week 1. If healthy, Delmas figures to start at free safety, after recording 61 tackles (50 solo), an interception, a sack, two fumble recoveries and three passes defensed over 13 games in 2014.

Dolphins general manager John Hickey said Delmas (knee) may be ready for full participation by June minicamp, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports. Despite suffering a torn ACL in early December, Delmas received a one-year, $3.5 million contract from the Dolphins. The team is clearly confident that the veteran safety will be ready by Week 1, with that sentiment echoed by Delmas himself. Still, it's best not to assume Delmas will be ready, given that he'll be just 10 months removed from the injury. If healthy, he figures to start at free safety again.

Delmas (knee), who re-signed with the Dolphins on a one-year contract Friday, said he is confident that he'll be ready for Week 1, ESPN's James Walker reports. While Delmas is reportedly ahead of schedule in the rehab process, he's still just three months removed from suffering a torn ACL. He'll be nine months removed from the injury by Week 1, making him highly questionable to be ready for the start of the season. If healthy, he'll likely start at free safety, as he did for the majority of 2014.

Delmas (knee) re-signed with the Dolphins on Friday, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports. Delmas was a nice addition for the Dolphins in 2014, until his injury woes resurfaced in a major way. He suffered a torn right ACL in early December, leaving him unlikely to be ready for Week 1 of the 2015 campaign. Delmas is a solid starter when healthy, but he averaged just 13 games over his first six NFL seasons. Still only 27 years old, he could re-emerge as a starter at some point in 2015.

An MRI has confirmed that Delmas suffered a torn right ACL on Sunday, Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports. According to coach Joe Philbin, Delmas will go on IR, with Salguero adding that the safety (who is on track to become a free agent this offseason) should be ready to go in time for training camp next year. Delmas thus finishes up the 2014 season with 61 tackles and a pick in 13 games.

Delmas (knee) is believed to have suffered a torn ACL, Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports. Delmas appeared to suffer a serious injury during Sunday's loss to the Ravens, as he was down on the field for a few minutes. Even if it doesn't turn out to be a torn ACL, he'll likely be unavailable for Week 15. The Dolphins may shift slot corner Jimmy Wilson back to safety, but the team is already hurting for depth at cornerback.

Delmas was carted off the field with a knee injury during Sunday's game against the Ravens, ESPN.com reports. Prior to suffering his injury Sunday, Delmas recorded three tackles, but at first glance it looks like the safety's availability down the stretch is in jeopardy.

Dolphins FS Louis Delmas said he feels the "best I've felt the last four years of football." Delmas is coming off his only 16-game season since the Lions took him in the second round of the 2009 draft. He's hoping that by resting his legs more and not going full-throttle 100 percent of the time in practice and offseason workouts will allow him to stay on the field. The Dolphins upgraded on Chris Clemons next to SS Reshad Jones by adding playmaker and big hitter Delmas.
