Chargers QB Kyle Boller has decided to retire. The 31-year-old was signed on Friday as a short-term injury replacement for Charlie Whitehurst, but he quickly realized that he wasn't going to get a fair shot at No. 2 duties. Unless he changes his mind, Boller finishes his career with 8,931 passing yards and a 48:54 TD:INT ratio with the Raiders, Rams, and Ravens. The Chargers, meanwhile, will look elsewhere for a veteran stopgap.

Free agent QB Kyle Boller was among the group of players trying out for the Titans on Tuesday. None of the four were immediately signed, although it sounds like Jerheme Urban has a shot. Boller, 31, is on the brink of falling out of the NFL after generating little to no offseason interest. He might need Brian Billick to return to coaching to get another chance to play, and we don't see that happening.

The Ravens will work out free agent QBs Kyle Boller and Dennis Dixon on Thursday. Baltimore appears to be searching for a camp arm to put some heat on Tyrod Taylor. Boller, of course, was the Ravens' first-round pick in the 2003 draft. If Baltimore is looking for more potential, Dixon would be its better bet.

The Contra Costa Times expects the Raiders to upgrade on free agent Koller Boller as Carson Palmer's primary backup. Boller was brutal in a 28-0 shutout loss to the Chiefs in his one spot start last season. Beat writer Steve Corkran throws out David Garrard as a possibility, though it seems to be more of a guess than an inside scoop.

Kyle Boller was pulled due to ineffectiveness in the third quarter of Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. Boller played one series in the second half and then got the hook. During his time on the field, the third-string talent completed 7-of-14 passes for 61 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions. Boller will be a strict backup to Palmer going forward.

Kyle Boller started at quarterback for the Raiders Sunday. Credit coach Hue Jackson and the Raiders for keeping everyone guessing right up until kickoff. Palmer may see some reps to get his feet wet, but this is Boller's show for now. Look for an extreme run-heavy approach today and Palmer to start when the Raiders come out of their bye in Week 9.

Kyle Boller will start Sunday's game against the Chiefs, according to FOX's Jay Glazer. Carson Palmer hasn't practiced or played in 10 months, so expecting him to step right in as the starter was never realistic. Downgrade all Raiders' wideouts as the Raiders are likely to employ a run-heavy approach. Palmer's first start as a Raider will come after the bye when the Raiders host the Broncos.

NFL.com's Steve Wyche seconds an ESPN report that the Raiders are now planning to start Kyle Boller in Week 7 against the Chiefs. Wyche's report cites "a league source and multiple Raiders players." Said the source, "It doesn't look like (Carson Palmer) is going to play." Coach Hue Jackson has remained noncommittal throughout the week, even suggesting Friday that he might use both quarterbacks on Sunday. Look for the Raiders to take the air out of the ball from the first snap if Boller does get the nod.

Raiders coach Hue Jackson hinted on his radio show Friday that he may use more than one quarterback in Week 7 against the Chiefs. The Raiders could start Kyle Boller, but give Carson Palmer snaps as a means of "easing in" their new franchise quarterback. It's interesting to note that Jackson also gave Terrelle Pryor first-team practice reps throughout the week, perhaps an indication that the rookie could be mixed in as a package player. Clearly, it's a situation to stay away from in all fantasy leagues.
