The Saints placed Hunter (undisclosed) on injured reserve Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter came down with an unknown injury in Thursday's practice, which was serious enough to impact his Week 17 availability. Instead, the Saints will trust in Tim Hightower and Travaris Cadet to head the backfield in Sunday's season finale at Atlanta.

The Saints signed Hunter on Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter enters a backfield that has been hammered by injuries this season. Among those on injured reserve are Mark Ingram (shoulder), Khiry Robinson (leg), and Marcus Murphy (ankle). While Hunter's last NFL carry occurred in 2013, he could spell Tim Hightower when he requires a respite over the last three games.

Hunter (undisclosed) and the 49ers agreed to terms of an injury settlement Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
After the preseason slate wrapped up, Hunter was suddenly placed on season-ending injured reserve. With an injury settlement in his back pocket, he has the ability to resign with the 49ers once he reaches the conclusion of the settlement, likely in six weeks' time.

Hunter (undisclosed) has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 49ers didn't provide any details, but it's quite possible this is related to the torn ACL that caused Hunter to miss all of last season. He struggled during the preseason, allowing rookie Mike Davis to emerge as the likely No. 3 running back.

Hunter (knee) made his preseason debut against the Broncos on Sunday, toting the rock seven times but only managing to gain 15 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Hunter definitely looked like a player who had been sidelined for over a year. He was expected to come back and slot into the third running back role for the 49ers, but now that job may be in jeopardy. With most starters getting Thursday's final preseason game off, Hunter will have to stave off rookies Mike Davis and Jarryd Hayne with a solid showing against the Chargers.

Hunter, who missed last season with a torn ACL, is returning to form, according to GM Trent Baalke, csnbayarea.com reports. "He's back to being Kendall," Baalke noted. "His speed is back to where it was pre-injury. He's really had a fine offseason." While his return to health bolsters the 49ers' backfield depth, touches may be hard to come by for Hunter out of the gate this season. Though Frank Gore is no longer in the team's mix, Carlos Hyde in line to be the top option at running back, with Reggie Bush on hand in a change-of-pace role and rookie Mike Davis viewed by Baalke as capable of handing a three-down role.

Hunter continues to progress in his recovery from an ACL injury, NFL.com reports. The report notes that a video on the 49ers' official site shows Hunter running well during the team's offseason workouts. Assuming his health, Hunter will look to carve out a role in the 49ers' post-Frank Gore backfield, which is on track to be headed by Carlos Hyde and Reggie Bush.

Hunter (knee) cleared waivers and was placed on the 49ers' IR, the Sacramento Bee. As expected, no team wanted to claim the injured running back with his contract expiring after this season. The 49ers have placed him on the injured reserve list and he will no longer count against the 90-man roster.

49ers GM Trent Baalke "made it clear" Sunday the team hopes to re-sign contract-year RB Kendall Hunter despite his right ACL tear. The 49ers could probably keep Hunter for very cheap after he tore both his Achilles' and ACL in a three-year span. "We'd love to have Kendall," Baalke said. "Kendall is a tremendous football player and an even better young man. He is a mentally tough young man, so I'd expect that he'd come back very well from the injury." Dynasty league owners of Hunter can consider dropping him.
