Former NFL receiver Keary Colbert has been named the new receivers coach at Georgia State University. Colbert, 30, was a second-round pick of the Panthers out of USC in 2004, but he could never separate at the next level. He was most recently with the Chiefs in 2011. Colbert also played for the Lions, Seahawks, and Broncos in 2008.

Chiefs waived WR Keary Colbert. Colbert was operating as Kansas City's third receiver earlier in the season, but had recently lost the job to rookie Jonathan Baldwin and has been a healthy scratch. He's got a spot on the USC coaching staff waiting for him if he wants to resume coaching. At 29, Colbert's playing career is probably over.

Chiefs declared WR Keary Colbert, S Jon McGraw, LB Demorrio Williams, OT Steve Maneri, DE Glenn Dorsey, TE Anthony Becht, and DE Brandon Bair inactive for Week 11 against New England. Colbert has ceded third receiver duties to Jonathan Baldwin, and now appears to have fallen behind even Jerheme Urban and Jeremy Horne. Dorsey is out with a knee injury. Williams and McGraw came into the game banged up.

Keary Colbert made the Chiefs' final roster. Colbert beat long odds after falling out of the league last season and accepting a coaching job at USC. He'll open the season no higher than fifth on the depth chart. Colbert hasn't topped 500 yards in a season since his rookie year in 2004.

Chiefs signed WR Keary Colbert, formerly of the Sacramento Lions. Colbert began the year on the Lions' UFL roster after spending the 2010 season as the USC Trojans' assistant tight ends coach. Once a promising-looking prospect defeating single-team coverage opposite Steve Smith in Carolina, Colbert hasn't been able to separate from defensive backs since 2004.
