Potter was removed from Saturday's preseason tilt against the Cowboys due to an injured hip, NFL.com reports. The Dolphins' situation at kicker is reaching a boiling point, as last year's starter, Caleb Sturgis, has also been riding out an ailing groin. Because the organization is expected to hold open auditions in the next few days in order to fill the void, according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, neither Potter nor Sturgis are palatable options in terms of fantasy.

Bills seventh-round pick John Potter has a "legitimate chance" to make the team as a kickoff specialist. Rian Lindell's job as the primary field-goal kicker is safe, but Potter's big leg could earn him a spot on the 53-man roster. Only 27.9 percent of Lindell's kickoffs resulted in a touchback last season, which was sixth-worst in the league.

The Bills are projecting seventh-round pick John Potter as a kickoff specialist. Rian Lindell is locked in as Buffalo's placekicker. Potter will have to show special touchback-making ability to convince the Bills it's worth keeping two kickers. Potter estimated that "43 or 44 percent" of his 2011 kickoffs went through the opponent's end zone. He played his college ball at Western Michigan.
