Free agent OT Jason Smith left his visit with the Titans without a contact. Smith was released on Saturday after he failed to win a swing-tackle job with the Jets. He was never considered likely to sign. The No. 2 pick of the 2009 draft, Smith will look to continue his career on the fifth-year veteran minimum.

Free agent OT Jason Smith visited the Titans. Smith is notable because he was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 draft. He's on the street because he's been dumped by the Rams, Saints and Jets in the last year. The Titans were likely just updating their emergency list.

Jets released OT Jason Smith. Signed just nine days ago, Smith was aiming for a reprise of his 2012 swing-tackle duties, but predictably couldn't hack it. The No. 2 pick of the 2009 draft will enter the season with just six starts since 2010. He's near the end.

Jets signed OT Jason Smith, formerly of the Saints. Smith was cut by the Saints on Wednesday, and it's surprising how quickly the colossal bust has found work. Smith spent the 2012 season with the Jets, and performed decently as the team's swing tackle. He'll fill that role again, but Gang Green will be in serious trouble if Smith has to start games.

The New York Post is "hearing" the Jets could bring back free agent OT Jason Smith. Smith was cut by the Saints on Wednesday. He signed with New Orleans after being released by the Jets earlier in the offseason. The Saints tried Smith at left tackle, but he's a slow-footed, turnstile right tackle-only lineman. He'd compete for the swing tackle role again with Gang Green.

Saints released LT Jason Smith. The Saints brought Smith in to push Charles Brown for the starting job on Drew Brees' blindside. It never happened. Third-round rookie Terron Armstead will serve as Brown's backup and Smith heads back to the street. The No. 2 overall pick of the Rams in the 2009 draft has now been cut by two teams in the last six months. Smith is one of the biggest busts in the history of the league.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune has observed OT Jason Smith as a player "who's not hot" early on in training camp. Not a surprise. Smith, a colossal draft bust, has been getting beat around the edge by pedestrian undrafted rookies and street free-agent pickups often in practice. Billed as a "sleeper" for the starting left tackle job as Drew Brees' blindside protector, Smith "hasn't been threatening" Charles Brown for the gig. Rookie Terron Armstead is also likely ahead of Smith on the depth chart.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune considers Jason Smith a "sleeper" for the Saints' left tackle job. We'll call him a deep sleeper. A deep, deep, deep one. Smith is "competing" with Charles Brown and third-rounder Terron Armstead, but is a distant third. Smith did get some first-team reps in OTAs, but he isn't even a lock for a roster spot. The Saints will be in trouble if they need Smith to start games this season.

Saints signed OT Jason Smith, formerly of the Jets, to a one-year contract. Smith, 27 later this month, was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2009 draft by the Rams, but he proved to be a complete bust. Concussions forced him to miss 19 games in his three years with the Rams, and he was later traded to the Jets for another turnstile tackle in Wayne Hunter last summer. Smith appeared in all 16 games with New York in 2012 as an extra tackle, and he will compete for a roster spot in training camp.
