Anderson signed with the Cowboys on Tuesday, replacing Henry Melton (knee) on the playoff roster. This is Anderson's fourth team of the season, and he was most recently cut by the Falcons. In 2013, Anderson started all 16 games with the Bears, but he will simply offer depth for the Cowboys as long as they can stay alive this postseason.

Anderson signed with the Falcons on Thursday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The linebacker previously appeared in seven games with the Titans this season, recording only six tackles. He'll more than likely function as a depth player for the Falcons.

Anderson has been released by the Patriots, the Boston Globe reports. ESPN's Mike Reiss suggests that Anderson was let go by the Patriots since he wasn't likely to factor in on special teams. He'll now look to catch on elsewhere as a depth linebacker.

Patriots signed LB James Anderson, formerly of the Bears, and waived WR Mark Harrison. Anderson, 31 in September, led the Bears in tackles last season with 102 as a 16-game starter on the outside. He's his best as a coverage linebacker in nickel packages and should be on the field with LB Jamie Collins in passing situations for the Patriots. Harrison is a height-weight-speed specimen at 6-foot-3 and 231 pounds with 4.46 wheels. He should get a look somewhere this summer.

Free agent LB James Anderson worked out for the Patriots last week. ESPN Boston believes Anderson could appeal to the Patriots due to his athleticism and ability to play in coverage. At 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds, Anderson was a big part of the Bears' nickel package last season. In New England, he'd be a role player after leading the Bears in tackles. The Patriots' current linebacker trio consists of SLB Donta' Hightower, MLB Jerod Mayo. and WLB Jamie Collins.

Panthers will release LB James Anderson. The cap-strapped Panthers are making some tough decisions. Although Anderson was due a relatively meager $2.9 million in 2013, he's entering his age-30 season and managed a mere 38 tackles in 12 games last season. Jon Beason is expected to kick to the strong-side linebacker spot now that Luke Kuechly is entrenched in the middle. The five-year, $22 million contract the Panthers gave Anderson in 2011 was another disaster from former GM Marty Hurney.

Panthers SLB James Anderson expects the Carolina defensive to dial up more pressure in 2012. It will be Sean McDermott's second year as defensive coordinator, and he comes from the blitz-heavy Jim Johnson school. "I'm quite sure when coach McDermott gets his whole, full system in, you'll see everybody going after the quarterback," said Anderson. McDermott only had about five weeks to install his defensive last season, after the lockout ended in late July.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera revealed that SLB James Anderson played the second half of the 2011 season with an ankle injury. "He had that ankle that just constantly nagged him," Rivera said. "And every day he was out there practicing, doing the best he can. I really thought he stepped up in terms of his career." Anderson set a franchise record with 174 tackles, per coaches' film review, breaking MLB Jon Beason's mark of 169 set in 2009. Anderson will be a steal for his 2012 salary of $2.4 million.
