Gibbs will be back with the Lions in 2024 and should lead the backfield alongside David Montgomery.

Gibbs carried the ball nine times for 74 yards and a touchdown and caught all four of his targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 31-23 divisional-round win over the Buccaneers.

The rookie running back topped 100 scrimmage yards in his second career playoff game and got into the end zone for the third straight contest, putting the Lions in the lead for good with a 31-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter. Gibbs posted his best rushing yardage total since Week 16 in Sunday's win, and he figures to be busy again next weekend in the NFC Championship Game against the 49ers.

Gibbs rushed eight times for 25 yards and a touchdown while corralling all four of his targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 24-23 playoff win over the Rams.

Gibbs was an integral part of building Detroit's early 14-3 lead when he scored his club's second rushing touchdown of the first quarter in Sunday's NFC wild-card victory. Starter David Montgomery (14-57-1) hit pay dirt on the Lions' first possession, then Gibbs followed with a10-yard scamper up the middle on the ensuing offensive drive. Jared Goff then followed with a touchdown pass to tight end Sam LaPorta to complete a trifecta of touchdowns on the team's first three possessions. The offense cooled thereafter, but the early point explosion was enough to lift the team to the next round of the playoffs. Expect the Lions to get Gibbs to double-digit touches in the upcoming NFC divisional round.

Gibbs rushed 13 times for 30 yards and a touchdown and failed to bring in his only target in the Lions' 30-20 win over the Vikings on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

The rookie had a quiet finish to his first regular season except for a three-yard scoring run in the first quarter. Gibbs' touches were limited more than usual with the postseason on the horizon, and the Alabama product is expected to play a big role in the playoffs after a regular season that saw him compile 945 rushing yards, 316 receiving yards and 10 total touchdowns in 15 games.

Gibbs rushed 15 times for 43 yards and brought in one of three targets for no gain in the Lions' 20-19 loss to the Cowboys on Saturday night.

EDGE Analysis

The electric rookie couldn't quite get loose for any significant gains Saturday night, with his longest run going for just 17 yards and Gibbs averaging under 2.0 yards per carry on his other 14 totes. He was also held without positive receiving yardage for only the second time all season, and Gibbs also saw his three-game touchdown streak snapped. The first-round pick will look to put together a better performance in order to head into the postseason with some momentum when the Lions face the Vikings in the Week 18 finale on Jan. 7.

Gibbs rushed 15 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns while catching four of seven targets for 20 yards during Sunday's 30-24 win over the Vikings.

EDGE Analysis

Christmas again came early for Gibbs' fantasy investors, with the rookie posting at least 100 total yards and two total touchdowns in consecutive games to open the fantasy playoffs. He didn't even need a full workload to accomplish the feat, as David Montgomery handled the first seven rushing attempts of the game and 17 carries in total. Instead, Gibbs came in after Montgomery started wearing Minnesota down and beat the defense with his speed, not only by darting for a 14-yard touchdown run in the first half but also by dusting the Vikings defense for a near touchdown on 4th-and-1 in the fourth quarter. Now joining Barry Sanders and Billy Sims as the only Lions players to post at least 1,000 total yards and 10 touchdowns as a rookie, Gibbs will look to remain productive in a challenging Week 17 showdown with the Cowboys.

Gibbs was out-touched by David Montgomery, but he was the far more efficient back. Seven of his 11 rushing attempts went for more than five yards, with his longest going for 34. He also found the end zone twice, first on a nine-yard reception midway through the second quarter and then on a rush from 12 yards away early in the final quarter. Gibbs has been limited to around 14 touches per game since David Montgomery returned from injury, but he's been incredibly efficient with that work, and he now has eight touchdowns across his eight games.

Gibbs rushed the ball 11 times for 66 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-13 loss to the Bears. He added three receptions on four targets for 16 yards.

EDGE Analysis

Gibbs split work out of the backfield nearly evenly with David Montgomery, and the duo had nearly identical stat lines. Gibbs ultimately had the more productive day thanks to a 12-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter, his sixth trip to the end zone in his last seven games. He's also topped 80 total yards from scrimmage in three of five contests since Montgomery returned from a rib injury. Gibbs should be in a favorable position to close the season, particularly in a Week 15 matchup against a Broncos defense that has a particularly leaky run defense.

Gibbs rushed eight times for 60 yards and brought in one of two targets for minus-6 yards in the Lions' 33-28 win over the Saints on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

The explosive rookie back looked like he might be on his way to a big day early with a 36-yard run on his first touch, but that would turn out to be the highlight of his afternoon. Backfield mate David Montgomery outpaced Gibbs by 10 rush attempts, although the latter did gain four more rushing yards. Gibbs hasn't topped 11 carries in any of his last three games, although a Week 14 road matchup in Chicago could prove to be a more conducive to the ground attack for the entirety of the contest.

Gibbs rushed 11 times for 54 yards while securing four of eight targets for 19 yards during Thursday's 29-22 loss to Green Bay.

EDGE Analysis

After seeing two more carries than David Montgomery did in the first game after Detroit's Week 9 bye, Gibbs has trailed his counterpart by four carries in each of the past two weeks. While the Alabama product has still been seeing more touches per game lately thanks to a huge role in the passing game -- and he could have had a more productive day had Jared Goff been more accurate on a couple of Gibbs' looks -- Gibbs' upside is undoubtedly capped by Montgomery, who racked up his eighth touchdown in seven games this season. The Detroit offense will look to keep fostering two productive running backs when the Lions reconvene for a Week 13 road matchup with a Saints defense that has allowed the fourth-fewest receptions to running backs in 2023.
