Williams is still not cleared to practice after suffering a concussion two weeks ago against the Seahawks, the Newark Star-Ledger reports. Coach Tom Coughlin said Williams may get cleared to do some activity Thursday. Mark Herzlich, who saw most of Williams' snaps against the Niners, would likely get the nod again if Williams can't go.

Jacquian Williams is "entrenched" as the Giants' starting weak-side linebacker, and is expected to be an every-down player in 2014. "Yeah, he is," LBs coach Jim Hermann confirmed. "He did a good job (this spring)." Primarily a nickel linebacker in 2013, Williams added offseason muscle and has bypassed Spencer Paysinger. Jameel McClain is expected to start at Sam linebacker. Jon Beason, once he gets healthy, will be the starter at Mike.

ESPN New York reports Jacquian Williams remains in the mix for the Giants' weak-side linebacker job. Williams was listed behind Spencer Paysinger on the Giants' first unofficial depth chart, but has been getting some reps with the first-team defense. After missing six games due to a knee injury last season, he has the potential to emerge as a three-down linebacker if he can stay healthy.

ESPN New York expects the Giants to use Jacquian Williams as a three-down linebacker. Williams is working his way back from offseason knee surgery and will compete with Spencer Paysinger for the starting weak-side linebacker job. With Keith Rivers and Mark Herzlich both suspect in pass coverage, Williams is a strong candidate for an every-down role if healthy.

Giants WLB Jacquian Williams is still recovering from his 2012 knee injury. Williams' injury is of the PCL variety, and cost him six games last season. "Just kind of taking my time with it," Williams said. "It is a day to day thing. It is getting better. Definitely better than it was. That's all." Williams is expected to take Michael Boley's place at weak-side linebacker.

ESPN New York calls Jacquian Williams the "natural replacement" for released WLB Michael Boley. Williams has spent the past two seasons as a nickel 'backer and the Giants seem to believe he's ready for a promotion. The 24-year-old finished 2012 with 30 tackles and one sack in ten games, starting three. Should Williams win the weak-side linebacker job out of camp, he'll be on IDP radars as an LB3/4.
