Amaro missed Monday's practice while rehabbing an undisclosed injury, Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
If this is anything more than a one-day issue, the Jets will likely provide an update at some point during the week. Amaro reportedly got off to a strong start at training camp, but he's still competing with Kellen Davis for playing time in an offense that will be centered around Matt Forte (hamstring), Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. Jets tight ends combined for just eight catches last season, though the number might have been higher if Amaro hadn't missed the whole year with a shoulder injury. Now healthy, the 2014 second-round selection could be looking at a make-or-break season.

Amaro has stood out through the first few days of training camp, according to The New York Post.
EDGE Analysis
A disappointment through his first two professional seasons, Amaro focused on run blocking, nutrition and his catching technique during the offseason. While a few strong days of practice don't prove that the work paid off, Amaro is the Jets' only tight end with any kind of upside, and there's no question the team needs a complementary target (or two) to emerge alongside Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. Though mostly known for his receiving skills, the 2014 second-round selection believes his blocking will play a huge role in determining how often he gets on the field.

Amaro (shoulder) could be used as an H-back or fullback this season, though he believes he should be used as a pass-catching tight end, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amaro missed all of last season due to a torn labrum, and with the current coaching staff unfamiliar with him after they took over last season, it's unclear what kind of role he will be given. With Jeff Cumberland gone, the Jets will have Amaro compete with Kellen Davis and Zach Sudfeld, which is hardly considerable competition for a player who was a significant part of the passing game in college at Texas Tech.

Amaro (shoulder) is back in uniform and expected to be ready for offseason workouts, the team's official website reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amaro missed all of last season due to his shoulder injury, but if he can get up to speed quickly, he could be a decent option in the passing game. Unfortunately, the Jets have a plethora of weapons there, including Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker and Matt Forte, which likely means Amaro isn't heading for a huge season.

Amaro (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amaro was diagnosed with a torn labrum and will require surgery to address the issue. A second-round draft pick in 2014, he posted a 38-345-2 receiving line on 53 targets as a rookie. He's only listed third on the depth chart, but he was expected to see some work as an H-back, and was the Jets' only tight end with any kind of upside as a receiver. Amaro's absence could leave a few more targets for Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis, but it may also just leave more passes for the Jets' wide receivers.

Amaro (shoulder) has no specific return date for practice, and his status for week 1 is very much in question, NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amaro missed out on valuable practice time in new offensive coordinator Chan Gailey's offense, so it's difficult to know what type of role to expect for him upon his return.

Amaro will not practice any time soon and new head coach Todd Bowles is unsure if he will be ready for week one, NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amaro has missed valuable practice time as new offensive coordinator Chan Gailey has installed the Jets' new offense. After posted 38 receptions for 345 yards and two touchdowns last season, he's making it difficult for fantasy owners to think a big breakout is on the horizon. He'll need to get on the practice field quickly to earn trust of his quarterback and coaches.

New York Jets tight end Jace Amaro is considered week-to-week after being diagnosed with a shoulder sprain, according to the Dallas Morning News. He had to be removed from the team's preseason game against the Detroit Lions on Thursday as a result of the injury, but Jets head coach Todd Bowles said Amaro is still expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. Amaro, who is expected to see time as an H-back this season, told the New York Post earlier this month he expects to have a big year. “I feel more confident in myself,” Amaro said. “I feel more glued to the system. I feel ready to go. I’m not a rookie. I’m going into my second year. I’ve seen it all. I played against some pretty good teams last season. I’ve seen a lot of defenses in practice and in games. I feel like I’ve got a lot more used to the speed. I think that’s the biggest thing, just adapting to that. I feel a lot more comfortable.”

Amaro (back) sat out practice once again on Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports. Amaro has not practiced since hurting his back in OTA's last week, but the team insists it is not a major issue. Given that these are just offseason workouts, it's likely the Jets still hold Amaro out for a couple of days to prevent the injury from worsening.

Amaro (back) is still not practicing as of Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports. Amaro left OTA's in the middle of last week with a back injury, and he's still dealing with symptoms. While the team doesn't believe the injury is serious, Amaro could miss a few more days, as he certainly won't risk further injury during offseason workouts.
