Manning completed 17 of 23 passes for 188 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in the Giants' 22-16 preseason win over the Jets on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Although he never found the end zone while playing the entire first half, Manning led the Giants to field goals on each of his last four drives. The veteran quarterback was sharp while connecting often with Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram before the latter exited the game with a concussion. Friday likely represented Manning's final taste of exhibition action, meaning he'd next suit up for a tough Week 1 matchup against the Jaguars. Although Engram's status is now in question, Manning is likely to have Saquon Barkley (hamstring) back at his disposal for that contest, while Odell Beckham, Jr. is fully expected to suit up after sitting out all of preseason.

Manning may play at least a half during Friday's preseason game against the Jets, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
As is tradition for many teams, the Giants will utilize the first-team offense for a large portion of their third preseason game, but the skill positions won't be fully stocked for Manning. Saquon Barkley has been tending to a left hamstring injury the last two weeks and isn't expected to play. Meanwhile, Manning's other top offensive weapon, Odell Beckham, has been taking it easy this month after last year's ankle woes and also may not suit up Friday. Manning will thus get extensive work with pass catchers like Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram.

Manning remained on the field for extra work prior to Friday's preseason game against the Lions, which Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com views as a good indication that the QB won't play in the contest.
EDGE Analysis
The same applies to wideout Odell Beckham, with the duo likely to see some run next Friday against the Jets. With Manning expected to rest, Davis Webb figures to see extended action against Detroit.

Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com relays that he'd be "surprised to see much" from Manning in Friday's preseason game against the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
Look for the veteran QB to see more action in the third week of the preseason versus the Jets, but for now the Giants appear inclined to take it easy on the likes of Manning and Odell Beckham, who isn't expected to play Friday.

Manning played the first two drives of Thursday's preseason opener against the Browns. He completed four of seven passes for 26 yards without a touchdown or interception in the 20-10 loss.
EDGE Analysis
Manning led New York to a field goal on the game's first drive, though a 39-yard run by rookie Saquon Barkley accounted for most of the team's yardage on that possession. The veteran quarterback was sacked on his final snap, but there was no sign of injury on the play and he was scheduled to come out after two drives regardless. It's tough to make many judgements about Manning based on this performance considering premier receiving option Odell Beckham sat this one out.

Manning will collect a $5 million roster bonus, ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Giants would've needed to release Manning by 4 p.m. on Saturday to avoid paying him the bonus. This leaves no question he's part of the team's plan for 2018, though his presence on the roster doesn't preclude the use of the No. 2 overall pick on a quarterback. The Giants recently gave LT Nate Solder the largest contract for an offensive lineman in league history, perhaps making up for the losses of C/G Weston Richburg (concussion) and G Justin Pugh (back) in free agency. The team has an impressive group of young pass catchers and also signed G Patrick Omameh away from Jacksonville, but there's still work to be done along the offensive line before Week 1.

Head coach Pat Shurmer expressed confidence in Manning on Friday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. "I think he's got years left," Shurmer said. "How much? I don't know. But I think he has time left and I look forward to working with him."
EDGE Analysis
In addition to good vibes from the new head honcho, Manning was given a vote of confidence from another person in the Giants hierarchy, general manager Dave Gettleman, who said the quarterback has "plenty of arm talent and can win games." The comments come on the heels of a dismal campaign in which Manning's 210-start streak in the regular season came to an end, but his 80.4 quarterback rating was only his second-lowest since 2008, which may be on the mind of Giants brass. No matter, the Giants hold the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming draft and are expected to address the QB room at some point, likely due to Manning's age (37), at the very least.

Manning completed 10 of 28 pass attempts for 132 yards, one touchdown and on interception during Sunday's 18-10 win over the Redskins.
EDGE Analysis
Manning averaged a paltry 4.7 yards per attempt and completed just 36 percent of his passes, but opportunistic touchdowns on the first two drives were enough to earn a win in the finale. The veteran certainly didn't benefit from numerous injuries to the skill positions and poor offensive line play this season, but he finished with his lowest yardage total since 2008 and his lowest touchdown output in any full season in his NFL career. Manning has two years left on his current contract, but the organization's actions earlier this season -- and comments from the player himself -- have led to speculation that he could soon be on the way out. Even if a mid-season regime change could keep him around next year, it is clear that Manning's time as the Giants' option under center is nearly up.

Giants interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo said that his "hope" is that Manning will take every snap in Sunday's game against the Redskins, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since it's ultimately up to Spagnuolo to decide if he wants to pull Manning from the contest at any point, it looks like the quarterback will see a full slate of snaps in the regular-season finale. With that in mind, rookie Davis Webb, who will be dress as the backup over Geno Smith for the first time this season, probably won't be in store for a cameo in his NFL debut, as some have speculated. Changes are afoot for the Giants in 2018 with the team naming Dave Gettleman its new general manager Wednesday and a head coach set to be hired soon after, so it's uncertain if Manning, who is under contract the next two seasons, will be retained as the starting quarterback. There's a chance Sunday's game could be Manning's last one at the Meadowlands.

Manning said Tuesday during a weekly radio appearance that he isn't considering retirement and hopes to remain with the Giants in 2018, Tom Rock of Newsday reports. "I don't know what's going to happen, I don't think anyone does," Manning said of the Giants' plans for him next season. "I love playing football, I love playing quarterback, and I want to continue to do it for the Giants. This is the only team I ever wanted to play for and I don't want to change. I do understand how this season has gone and new people [are] coming in. If they want to make a change, then we'll go down that road."
EDGE Analysis
With only 18 touchdown passes through 14 appearances this season, Manning is on pace to finish with his fewest scores since 2013, when he tossed a career-high 27 interceptions. An injury ravaged receiving corps hasn't helped Manning's cause during the Giants' nightmarish 2-13 campaign, but it's unclear if the soon-to-be 37-year-old is a viable starting option for a contending club at this stage of his career. The Giants are likely to install a new general manager and head coach in the weeks to come, at which point more clarity on Manning's future with the organization should come forth. The veteran has two years remaining on his contract and is guaranteed a hefty bonus if he stays on the roster before free agency opens March 14.
