Archer was placed on the did not report list by the Bills after being claimed by the team last week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Bills signed Archer in the hopes that the speedy back could help in the return game, but he has yet to report to the team after being claimed last week. By placing Archer on the did not report list, the Bills are able to sign another player to their current 90-man roster without having to release Archer. He'll remain on the list until a resolution to his status with the team occurs.

The Bills claimed Archer off waivers Tuesday, Sal Capaccio of WGR 550 Buffalo reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jettisoned to waivers by the Jets on Monday, the Bills have swooped in to see if the burner can aid the return game, at the very least. Outside of 23 kick returns at a clip of 22.4 yards per attempt, Archer, a third-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, struggled to gain a foothold in his first two professional seasons with the Steelers. He'll look to buck the bust label in new climes.

Archer has been released by the Jets, ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Selected by Pittsburgh in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft, Archer has yet to make good on his sub-4.3 speed, picking up just 63 yards on 17 offensive touches (seven catches). He also hasn't done much in the return game, which could represent his best opportunity to stick around in the NFL. It obviously isn't a good sign that he's already been released by two organizations.

Archer was signed to a reserve-future deal by the Jets on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The speedy scat back out of Kent State was released by the Steelers in November to clear room for the addition of kick returner Jacoby Jones. Archer possesses blazing speed, but his deficiencies in other areas prevented him from seeing any touches on the offensive side of the ball this season. He was serviceable in the return game through eight games with the Steelers in 2015, averaging 25.3 yards on 14 kick returns. With three established running backs already on the roster, Archer's clearest path to a roster spot is likely as a special teamer.

The Steelers have released Archer.
EDGE Analysis
Meanwhile, the Steelers claimed WR Jacoby Jones to bolster their return game, at Archer's expense, with the team's backfield now comprised of DeAngelo Williams, Jordan Todman and newcomer Isaiah Pead.

Archer returned two kicks for 34 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bengals.
EDGE Analysis
Though fellow RB Le'Veon Bell suffered a knee injury in the game that threatens his availability for the rest of the season, it was DeAngelo Williams who handled all the Steelers' carries once Bell exited the contest. That siad, it's possible that Archer and/or Jordan Todman could factor in as change-of-pace options in the team's offense in the coming weeks.

Archer went without a touch in Pittsburgh's 43-18 win against San Francisco Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Through two games, Archer has not had a rushing attempt or a reception, and has just one kick return for 22 yards. The return of Le'Veon Bell (suspension) in Week 3 likely means Archer will continue to be limited to special teams.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Dri Archer will assume primary kick and punt return duties this season, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Archer saw limited snaps as a rookie last season both as a return man and on offense, but recorded nearly 1500 return yards and four touchdowns during his four-year collegiate career at Kent State.

Archer had three catches for 15 yards in Pittsburgh's 30-17 Wild Card loss to Baltimore on Saturday. Used primarily on passing downs, Archer had a touchdown overturned by a penalty in the fourth quarter, and also had one run, which resulted in a one-yard loss.

Archer lost a yard on his only carry, adding two receptions for 19 yards on two targets, in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Bengals. Le'Veon Bell exited in the third quarter with a hyperextended knee, leaving Archer and fellow rookie Josh Harris to handle the workload at running back. Harris wasn't targeted, but he did finish with five carries for seven yards. Should Bell miss Saturday's playoff game against the Ravens, it's not entirely clear how the workload would be divided. Archer's top-notch speed makes him a threat as a receiver, but his lack of size raises questions about both pass-blocking and running between the tackles. Archer is listed at just 5-8 and 173 pounds, while Harris has typical NFL running-back size at 5-11, 210. Archer was drafted late in the third round, and Harris caught on to the practice squad as an undrafted free agent. With Bell playing nearly every snap since LeGarrette Blount was released, neither rookie has seen much action this season.
