Cowboys signed OT Demetress Bell, formerly of the Eagles. ESPN Dallas reported this move was coming two days ago. Bell, 29, possesses the athletic skill set to be an NFL starter, but struggled mightily in Philadelphia last year. Appearing in nine games with five starts, Bell graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 78 tackle among 80 qualifiers, ahead of only Cardinals turnstile LT D'Anthony Batiste and Chargers UDFA Mike Harris. Ideally, OC Bill Callahan will coach up Bell's talent into a viable swing tackle.

ESPN Dallas reports the Cowboys plan to sign free agent OT Demetress Bell. All that stands between a deal is a physical. Bell would serve as a reserve at both tackle spots, but could theoretically put himself in the starting mix at right tackle if Dallas doesn't like what it sees from Doug Free and Jermey Parnell. Bell flopped spectacularly in Philadelphia last season.

USA Today's Mike Garafolo reports free agent OT Demetress Bell would be a fallback option for the Ravens if they failed to re-sign Bryant McKinnie. It's the first we've heard of Bell since his release from the Eagles in early February. Bell was a total dud his lone season in the City of Brotherly Love, playing just 462 snaps while grading out as a bottom-three tackle in Pro Football Focus' ratings. He'd be little more than a reserve in Baltimore.

Eagles released OT Demetress Bell. DE/OLB Chris McCoy was signed in a corresponding roster move. Signed to a "five-year, $34.5 million contract" last April, only Bell's $3.25 million 2012 salary was guaranteed. He was due an odious $8.5 million roster bonus this offseason. Soundly defeated by King Dunlap for the Eagles' starting left tackle job last summer, Bell was a healthy scratch in Week 1, and appeared in just nine games thereafter. Bell has made over 30 career starts at left tackle, but consistently struggled. He should garner little, if any, interest as a starter on the open market.

Eagles OT Demetress Bell will man left tackle in Todd Herremans' absence, shifting LT King Dunlap to Michael Vick's blindside at right tackle. Bell got absolutely destroyed at right tackle in Monday night's loss after Herremans departed. It was the first time in his career he lined up on the right side. It's still an unideal arrangement, but will hopefully keep Michael Vick on his feet more often than he was Monday, where he was sacked seven times. To date, Bell has been a total bust since coming over from Buffalo in free agency.

Demetress Bell continued to take the first-team left tackle reps Wednesday even though King Dunlap (hamstring) returned to practice. For now, Dunlap has been "Pipped." Bell has impressed coaches while starting the last two weeks, especially when Michael Vick took just two sacks against the Giants' vaunted pass rushers on Sunday night. It's a rapid ascension for a player that was a healthy scratch in Week 1.

Eagles OT Demetress Bell is so buried on the depth chart that he was a healthy scratch for Week 1. Bell isn't even Philly's swing tackle; late-round rookie Dennis Kelly held that distinction against the Browns. LT King Dunlap and RT Todd Herremans are the starters, although the Eagles might want to rethink that after Michael Vick took 11 quarterback hits in Week 1. They just don't have much faith in Bell.

Demetress Bell will play off the bench once again in Friday's third preseason game. King Dunlap has soundly beaten out Bell for the starting left tackle job. It's a surprise after the Eagles dropped $3.25 million guaranteed on Bell in free agency and tabbed him as Jason Peters' (Achilles') replacement. Bell, due a $8.5 million roster bonus in 2013, will likely be one-and-done in Philly.

Coach Andy Reid said Demetress Bell will have to battle King Dunlap for the starting left tackle job. Jason Peters' season-ending Achilles' tendon tear leaves a massive hole in the Eagles' offense. We fully expect Bell to win the job after the Eagles gave him $3.25 million guaranteed for the 2012 season, but his talent level doesn't compare to Peters'. It's an area of concern for the Eagles going into training camp.
