Van Duke was signed by the Falcons in March of 2016, but suffered a bad concussion during the preseason and was placed on injured reserve. He was released from the IR just before the regular season started, and will look to give it a go with another team next offseason.

Van Dyke ran a 4.28 forty at the 2011 Combine and was an Al Davis special in Oakland, but he didn't play a single defensive snap last season in Pittsburgh. He's no more than the No. 5 corner in Pittsburgh and is fighting for a roster spot.

Steelers agreed to terms with CB Demarcus Van Dyke.
The fastest player at the 2011 Combine with a forty time for 4.28, Van Dyke surprisingly went unclaimed on waivers early this week. We suspect it was because no team wanted to guarantee his the salary from his rookie deal. Although Van Dyke's coverage was inconsistent, he showed flashes of potential as a first-year player. Former Steelers great Rod Woodson may have given "DVD" a good review after coaching Raiders cornerbacks last season.

Raiders waived CB Demarcus Van Dyke.
The move clears a spot Joselio Hanson. An Al Davis special, "DVD" ran a 4.28 in the 40-yard dash at last year's Combine, but was spotty in coverage, and mostly utilized at nickel back. He was far from a disaster, however, so it's still a surprising move. The steadier and more experienced Hanson will replace Van Dyke in the slot, further signaling Oakland's sea change in philosophy since the passing of its long-time owner Davis. Van Dyke's youth and athleticism should land him a new job within the week.

Second-year CB Demarcus Van Dyke has reportedly been the "biggest surprise" of Raiders camp thus far.
Van Dyke held his own in four spot starts as a rookie, but it sounds like he's taking his game to the next level in year two. Van Dyke is long and runs well, and he could end up pushing for penciled-in RCB Shawntae Spencer's starting job.
