Coach Tom Coughlin reiterated that David Wilson (neck) is not expected to need surgery. "I doubt that," Coughlin said when asked if Wilson would need surgery. "I don't know what to think (long-term) because it's obvious that medically there's no green light. So we're still in a holding pattern, believing that he's going to get better." Wilson will be reevaluated again in "several weeks." He was placed on injured reserve Thursday. The Giants will move forward with a three-man committee made up of Peyton Hillis, Andre Brown, and Brandon Jacobs.

Giants placed RB David Wilson on injured reserve with a herniated disc in his neck, ending his season. The Giants announced on Monday that Wilson had made "significant improvement," but he wasn't going to improve to the point that he could help in the next two months. ESPN reported Thursday that Wilson is expected to avoid surgery, and make a "full recovery." It's a bitterly disappointing end to what was expected to be a breakout season for the 2012 first-rounder, but Wilson should get every opportunity to claim the Giants' starting job next summer. Still only 22, he remains a strong hold in Dynasty leagues despite his rocky first two seasons.

ESPN's Dan Graziano confirms that David Wilson (neck) is likely to be placed on injured reserve Thursday, but that he's expected to avoid surgery, and make a "full recovery." It's extremely good news, as season-ending neck issues are among the most serious injuries in football. Wilson still has a number of hurdles to clear, but for now he can be counted on to be 100 percent for next summer's training camp.

The Giants released a Monday statement saying David Wilson (neck) has made "significant improvement" with regard to his neck injury. It sounds like Dr. Robert Watkins has determined Wilson does not need surgery, though that hasn't been confirmed. Wilson has a herniated disc in his neck. "The determination was made that while there has been significant improvement with the herniation, Wilson is still not clear to resume football activities," the Giants' statement reads. "Wilson will undergo another evaluation in several weeks." So the Giants anticipate Wilson missing "several" more weeks, obviously. He's only worth stashing in 14- and 16-team leagues.

FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports David Wilson's neck has "improved," but he still hasn't been cleared for game action. Doctors will "continue to monitor" Wilson's progress following Monday's pivotal MRI. We hope to receive more definitive news on Wilson's going-forward availability this week. Despite a slow start to the 2013 season, Wilson maintains a career YPC average of 4.4 with seven all-purpose touchdowns in 21 games played.

A source tells ESPN that David Wilson will undergo a pivotal MRI on his neck this week. The MRI will determine whether Wilson will be able to play again this season. This scan will be compared to the running back's first scan to see just how much his neck has healed. Given the scary nature of the injury, the Giants have already said they'll exercise caution with Wilson. They're getting Andre Brown (leg) back for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

GM Jerry Reese said the Giants will "make some decisions" on David Wilson (neck) early next week. Wilson's herniated disc and spinal stenosis will be re-evaluated by doctors. "I'm not a doctor so I don't want to stand up here and say something is career-threatening," Reese said. "But anytime you have a situation with your neck and your spine, those are some serious things that you need to take into consideration." It sounds like season-ending injured reserve is a possibility.

David Wilson (neck) will be re-evaluated by doctors next week. Wilson has missed the last three weeks with his neck injury. Giants GM Jerry Reese considers him a "day to day" situation. Wilson is without a set timetable to return, but there's a chance he could be cleared to practice when the Giants come out of their bye in Week 10.

Coach Tom Coughlin said he has no new information on David Wilson (neck). Wilson has insisted all along that he feels fine, but doctors are always going to err on the side of caution when it comes to neck injuries. There's no way for anyone to know if he'll be back this season until some more time passes. Meanwhile, Andre Brown (leg) feels 100 percent and is expected to play when the Giants come out of their bye in Week 10. Wilson is only a stash in leagues with deep benches.
