A source tells FOX Sports that free agent Danario Alexander is dealing with major complications from his latest knee surgery.

The Chargers aren't expected to re-sign free agent Danario Alexander. Beat writer Michael Gehlken puts the chances Alexander re-ups with the Bolts at "very low." DX has had seven knee surgeries -- five on his left, two on his right -- and may never play again. Alexander's talent is undeniable when he's healthy, but unfortunately he's been unable to stay on the field. He might get a one-year deal.

Per the Union-Tribune San Diego, Alexander's latest procedure was a "revision ACL surgery" performed as a "followup," and may make him "unavailable" for the start of 2014 training camp. Sources say "DX" still hopes to play next season, though he's considered "unlikely" to be re-signed by the Chargers. Alexander has now undergone two right knee surgeries and a whopping five operations on his left knee stemming from recurring college injuries. His career is in obvious doubt.

It's quite possible today's news won't amount to anything, but it serves as a timely reminder of Alexander's inability to stay healthy.

Don't be afraid to check it down. You don't have to make that big play every play." The Chargers want the ball out of Rivers' hand quickly, thus hiding their woeful offensive line and raising his completion percentage. It's not an ideal scheme for a guy like Danario Alexander, who excels at making big plays down the field.
