Carpenter has a workout scheduled with the Jaguars, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter would compete with Jason Myers for Jacksonville's kicking job if all goes well in the workout. The veteran is currently a free agent after spending the past four seasons in Buffalo, where new Jaguars coach Doug Marrone was in charge during Carpenter's first two years with the team. Last season, the 31-year-old converted 19 of 25 field goals, including all 14 of his attempts from under 40 yards, but he did miss five of 45 extra-point tries.

Carpenter was released from the Bills on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter was 19-for-25 on field goals and 40-for-45 on extra points in 2016. His release leaves the Bills without a kicker currently on the team. Carpenter is free to sign with any team.

Carpenter was just 1-for-3 on field goals in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. He made all four of his extra-point attempts, but the two misses -- on a day where Miami's Andrew Franks was better -- ended up making a huge difference in the overtime loss.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter has typically come up big against his former team, but he and the leaky Buffalo defense wore the goat horns in this one and the Bills are now officially out of the playoffs for the 17th straight season. At least he gets a good Week 17 matchup at the Jets should the weather cooperate, but with a poor 75 success rate on field goals and five missed extra points this season, Carpenter's job may not be a sure thing heading into next year,

Carpenter hit his lone field-goal attempt as well as all three extra-point tries during Sunday's loss in Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
The Bills have a decent offense, but Carpenter simply isn't getting the volume as he has in past seasons, and with 75 points on the campaign he'll at least need average output to hit the century mark for the eighth time in his nine NFL seasons. All four of the Bills' remaining games will be played in stadiums that see the usual December weather patterns (three at home, one at the Jets).

Carpenter made his only field-goal try -- a 23-yarder -- but missed one of four extra-point attempts in Sunday's win over the Rams. It was Carpenter's second extra-point miss of 2016 after he missed six of them last season.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter's job is probably safe unless some more hiccups come along, as he's made over 85 percent of his field-goal attempts in each of his three full seasons with the Bills. But the issues with extra points became a nuisance for coach Rex Ryan last season, and between two missed ones in 2016 as well as two missed field-goal tries, he's probably on less sturdy footing than earlier in his stint with the Bills.

Carpenter made both of his field-goal attempts during Sunday's upset over the Cardinals -- a 19-yarder and a 45-yarder -- but missed one of four extra-point attempts.
EDGE Analysis
The extra-point attempts were a big issue last season, when six misses almost cost Carpenter his job. However, Sunday's miss was his first of the season, and he's been true on eight others. With the Bills winning big, Carpenter's job seems fairly secure for the time being; however, his 17 points on the season put him just tied for 21st among the league's kickers.

Carpenter's teammate Jordan Gay was released by the Bills on Wednesday, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jordan Gay was brought in as a potential kickoff specialist, more so than as a threat to Carpenter's place-kicking job. Despite missing six extra points last season, Carpenter has been reliable throughout his career, converting 84.8 percent of his field-goal attempt, including 96 percent (123 of 128) from inside of 40 yards. He has also made 13 field goals of 50-plus yards (on 19 attempts) in his three seasons with the Bills.

Carpenter made all 11 of his attempts (between 25 and 47 yards) during Friday's practice, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW reports. The veteran has now hit his last 21 field goal attempts in practice.
EDGE Analysis
No one can see anyone giving Carpenter competition as we start to head toward preseason games, meaning you can pretty much slot him in as the Bills' kicker for Week 1. As long as he can improve upon last season's miserable 34-for-40 output on extra points, his job should be about as safe as it goes in the placekicking world.

Carpenter went 9 for 9 on his field goal attempts during Tuesday night's practice season. His kicks ranged from 33 to 50 yards, BuffaloBills.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carpenter almost lost his job last season, mostly because he couldn't seem to hit an extra point, but coach Rex Ryan stuck with him and he's the clear frontrunner for the job this season. He's typically about as clutch as it gets in a poor-weather city like Buffalo, so with the new kickoff rules not penalizing his average length as much, there seems to be little competition for the Bills to find his replacement in 2016.

Carpenter agreed to lower his 2016 base salary from $2.025 million to $1.775 million, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports.
EDGE Analysis
A candidate to be released, Carpenter had to make some concessions if he wanted to stick with Buffalo. In addition to a $250,000 pay cut that can be recouped through incentives, he also agreed to move his upcoming $250,000 roster bonus back to September. Carpenter will still have to fend off competition for his job, as last season's 85.2 percent conversion rate on field goals would look a whole lot better if he hadn't missed six extra points.
