Webster retired Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Webster is perhaps best known for making a game-altering interception on a Brett Favre pass intended for Donald Driver during overtime of the 2007 NFC Championship Game, sending the Giants to Super Bowl XLII, where they spoiled the Patriots' perfect season and won the third Super Bowl in franchise history. Over six seasons, Webster recorded 275 tackles and 18 interceptions.

Former Giants All-Pro LB Carl Banks ripped free agent CB Corey Webster on Twitter after news broke that Webster's contract had voided. Banks accused Webster of "grand larceny" for collecting $5 million in base salary despite missing all but four 2013 games. Banks later accused Webster of "quitting on his teammates," attributing the absences to "mystery injuries." Banks is currently a Giants radio analyst and presumably has insight into the team. Webster turns 32 in March. He's not going to be a hot free agent.

Giants CB Corey Webster's contract has voided, making him an unrestricted free agent. He almost certainly would've been cut had the 2014 portion of his deal not voided. Now going on age 32, Webster's body may be breaking down after missing all but four of the Giants' 2013 games. As a 16-game starter the season before, Webster graded out 110th among 113 qualifying cornerbacks per PFF. Webster may receive one-year offers for the veteran's minimum in free agency.

Giants placed CB Corey Webster on injured reserve with a groin injury, ending his season. It's surprising it took this long, as Webster hasn't played since Week 8. Webster finishes 2013 with just four appearances to his name, and was ineffective in 170 snaps. He dealt with hip and ankle issues in addition to his groin injury. Signed for $1 million in a "voidable year" next season, Webster will almost certainly be gone from the G-Men. A starter since 2008, Webster will have to prove he's healthy before latching on somewhere as veteran insurance. Webster turns 32 in March.

Giants CB Corey Webster (groin/ankle) has been ruled out for Week 10. Webster's body seems to be letting him down at age 31. He's an obvious release candidate after the season. Webster has played in four games this year.

Giants CB Corey Webster (groin) is listed as probable for Week 7. Webster missed the last four games with a strained groin. His return is an upgrade for a Giants defense that currently ranks 20th in pass defense. Slot CB Jayron Hosley (hamstring) has been officially ruled out for Monday night's game against the Vikings.

Giants CB Corey Webster (hip) is not expected to play in Thursday's game against the Bears. Aaron Ross (back) is on injured reserve and Jayron Hosley (hamstring) did not practice Tuesday. It's an obvious dream matchup for Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. Michael Vick and Nick Foles combined to go 22-of-39 for 302 yards with two touchdowns and no picks against the Giants in Week 5.

Giants CB Corey Webster (hip) is listed as doubtful for Week 5 against the Eagles. Michael Vick has a sterling matchup against a Giants defense that is not only allowing the most points in football, but will be without a huge chunk of its secondary. Aaron Ross, who had been starting for Webster, has been ruled out due to a back injury. Slot CB Jayron Hosley is out with a strained hamstring.

Giants LCB Corey Webster (hip) has been ruled out for Week 4 at Kansas City. If Alex Smith could get the football outside the numbers, Webster's loss would upgrade Dwayne Bowe and Donnie Avery's Week 4 fantasy matchups. Look for Aaron Ross to make another start at left corner opposite RCB Prince Amukamara.
