Hilliard has retired, per Brian Costello of the New York Post. Hilliard only saw one game with the Lions in 2014, so he probably received some bad news from the Jets that he wouldn't be making the team and decided to call it quits.

Corey Hilliard and LaAdrian Waddle have been splitting first-team reps at right tackle in the Lions' offseason program. Hilliard lost the same battle to Jason Fox last season, but claimed the starting job in Week 2 after Fox went down with a groin injury. Hilliard then suffered a knee injury in Week 7, and couldn't reclaim the gig from Waddle upon returning to full health. Waddle is the favorite to start this season.

Lions RT Corey Hilliard is headed for an MRI on his knee Monday. Hilliard went down in the fourth quarter and did not return. With LT Riley Reiff battling hamstring woes and Jason Fox (knee) out, the Lions offensive line is turning into a mess. Their only healthy tackle right now is undrafted rookie LaAdrian Waddle.

The Detroit Free Press considers the Lions' right-tackle job a "two-man competition" between Jason Fox and Corey Hilliard. The duo combined for only one appearance last season. Hilliard has five career starts to Fox's zero. The Lions presumably want Fox to win the job after spending the offseason talking him up, but injuries have limited him to just five games since he was the No. 128 overall pick of the 2010 draft. The Lions recently hosted free agent Winston Justice for a visit, and could still add outside competition.

Lions re-signed OT Corey Hilliard to a two-year contract. Hilliard had been slated to hit the open market. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Hilliard will get a shot at right tackle duties, but he appeared in zero games last season after playing just 151 snaps in 2011. A six-year veteran, Hilliard has made only five career starts. Riley Reiff and Jason Fox are both better bets to get the nod at right tackle.

Lions signed restricted free agent OT Corey Hilliard to a one-year contract. Hilliard will officially sign his tender on Monday. It's unknown what level he was tendered at, but it was likely the lowest-possible level. Hilliard has appeared in all 32 games the past two seasons, but made just five starts. He played 151 snaps in 2011, and graded out poorly as both a run and pass blocker by Pro Football Focus.
