McCarthy (shoulder) was Tuesday. McCarthy suffered a shoulder injury during the Titans' preseason opener and has already undergone surgery to repair the ailment. Nonetheless, given the severity of the procedure, McCarthy has already been ruled out for the season and Tuesday's placement on injured reserve confirms that status.

McCarthy (shoulder) is expected to go on injured reserve in the near future, The Tennessean reports. McCarthy underwent shoulder surgery on Friday and has already been ruled out for the remainder of this season, so it's no surprise he's expected to land on IR shortly. In wake of his injury, the Titans signed linebacker Kendrick Adams to work with the team's reserve units.

McCarthy (shoulder) underwent surgery on Friday and will miss the remainder of the season, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports. McCarthy, a fourth-round pick in 2011, picked up the injury in last Saturday's preseason opener against Green Bay. Fellow linebacker Kendrick Adams was added to Tennessee's roster on Wednesday to replace McCarthy, who had been practicing with the second- and third-team defenses during training camp.

McCarthy will meet with Dr. James Andrews next Monday to determine if surgery is necessary on his shoulder, ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky reports. McCarthy attained the injury in Saturday's preseason opener against the Packers, with coach Ken Whisenhunt calling the ailment a "significant" one. Even if McCarthy receives a good prognosis from Dr. Andrews, there's still a good chance he won't be ready for the start of the regular season, making him a potential PUP list candidate.

McCarthy will be out indefinitely after suffering a shoulder injury against the Packers on Saturday, the Tennessean reports. Coach Ken Whisenhunt called the injury that McCarthy suffered in the third quarter Saturday a "significant" one, which clearly represents a big hit to McCarthy's chances of cementing a key inside linebacker role with the Titans out of the gate.

McCarthy was forced out of Saturday's preseason game against Green Bay with a shoulder injury. No word yet on the severity of the injury, but this doesn't bode well for McCarthy, who was already facing an uphill battle for playing time at linebacker for the Titans.

Titans coach Mike Munchak expects Colin McCarthy to be limited to a reserve linebacker role and special teams this season. McCarthy was a starter and team captain in 2012, but fell behind Moise Fokou in training camp due to a hamstring injury. "He has to work his way back to where we feel he can do all the things he needs to do on an everyday basis," Munchak said. "Right now he is not where he needs to be to be an every down guy." The Titans have "no plans" to replace Fokou any time soon. Even when he gets fully healthy, McCarthy isn't expected to regain his starting job.

Coach Mike Munchak confirmed Sunday that Moise Fokou has won the Titans' starting middle linebacker job over Colin McCarthy. On McCarthy's only practice of training camp, he pulled his hamstring. He has not returned, while Fokou has handled starting reps since OTAs. "I don't know what's gonna go on with Colin," Munchak said. "Right now, (Fokou) would be our starter. I don't know if Colin will be practicing this week, and next week. ... (Fokou) is the best linebacker that's lined up and practiced everyday."

Titans MLB Colin McCarthy (hamstring) is expected to miss at least on more week. The oft-injured McCarthy is doing himself no favors on the training table. Moise Fokou started at middle linebacker in the Titans' preseason opener against the Redskins and played well. However, head coach Mike Munchak said McCarthy remains very much a contender to win the job. Trust McCarthy in IDP leagues at your own peril.
