The Washington Football Team has released Latimer.

Per NFL.com's Grant Gordon, Latimer was on the Commissioner's Exempt List following a May arrest in Colorado which resulted in five charges. Latimer had been signed by Washington back in March after spending the last two seasons with the Giants.

Latimer is facing eight charges, including four felonies, for an alleged incident in Douglas County, Colo. in May. Late last week, he appeared in court remotely and was expected to report to Washington's team facilities Tuesday, but the latter won't come the pass. When (or if) he's allowed to join his teammates, Latimer will be competing for one of the last wide receiver spots on the roster.

His status remains murky heading into the season, but it appears at this point he will report to camp per usual. He has played the last two seasons with the Giants and recorded a career-high 24 receptions for 300 yards in 2019.

Latimer was arrested Saturday on charges of assault in the second degree, menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athleticreports.

Latimer, who signed an offseason deal with the Redskins after spending the previous two seasons with the Giants, is being held on a $25,000 bond. A Redskins team official reported, "We are aware of the situation and have informed the NFL League Office. We will continue to gather more information and have no further comment at this time."

Latimer agreed to terms on a contract with the Redskins on Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

EDGE Analysis

Latimer served as the Giants' fourth receiver and primary kick return man in 2019, finishing the season with 24 catches for 300 yards. He'll likely assume a depth role for the Redskins next season, especially with youngsters Terry McLaurin (concussion) Trey Quinn (concussion) and Kelvin Harmon on the roster that were all drafted by the team in the past two seasons. He figures to battle Steven Sims for work as the team's primary kick and punt return man as well.

Latimer finished the season with 24 catches for 300 yards on 42 targets as the Giants' No. 4 receiver and primary kick returner.

EDGE Analysis

With the emergence of Darius Slayton, and the presence of Golden Tate, Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram and Kaden Smith, Latimer's best hope is to hang on as a depth receiver and return man again in 2020.

Latimer caught five of seven targets for 44 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 41-35, overtime victory over Washington.

EDGE Analysis

The 27-year-old played 79 total offensive snaps and had five catches for 79 yards and one touchdown across the previous six games, so it was certainly surprising to see him play 41 snaps Sunday with Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard healthy. Latimer worked ahead of rookie Darius Slayton in Week 16, but it's unclear if playing time will split similarly in the season finale

Latimer caught one of two targets for 21 yards during Sunday's 36-20 win over the Dolphins.

EDGE Analysis

Latimer has resumed occupying a depth spot in New York's aerial attack with Sterling Shepard, Golden Tate and Darius Slayton all healthy. He'll reprise his usual role as a kick returner and reserve wideout Week 16 against Washington.

Latimer notched a 43-yard reception on three targets in Sunday's 31-13 loss to the Packers.

EDGE Analysis

Latimer enjoyed his highest offensive snap count (33) since Week 8 because Golden Tate (concussion) was inactive. It's unsettled whether Tate will be ready for Week 14's clash against the Eagles, and if he is, Latimer will bump back to a reserve role.

Latimer likely will replace Golden Tate (concussion) in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Packers, Tom Rock of Newsday reports.

EDGE Analysis

A spot in the starting lineup doesn't offer any guarantees in terms of workload, as Latimer technically has started nine of his 10 games this season, averaging 2.9 targets and 30.4 offensive snaps in those contests. He may even split the No. 3 receiver role with Cody Core or Da'Mari Scott, as the Giants have been hesitant to give Latimer more than half the snaps on offense even when they've been forced to play without Tate or Sterling Shepard. The safe bets for Week 13 targets are Shepard and Darius Slayton.
