Jones has signed a two-year extension with the Cowboys, bringing the total value of his contract to $4.2 million over three years, with $750,000 guaranteed, ESPN's Field Yates reports. Jones' contract runs through 2017, and the guaranteed money should keep him safe in his role for at least the next two seasons. His punting average of 45.5 yards ranked 18th out of 32 qualified punters in 2014, while his net average of 39.8 yards was good for 14th. He had 21 punts inside the 20-yard line, with only two touchbacks all season.

DallasCowboys.com "would expect" Chris Jones to return as the Cowboys' punter in 2012. A partially torn ACL sent Jones to injured reserve in Week 8. Veteran Brian Moorman filled in, but is now a free agent. Jones is signed for an affordable $555,000, making it likely he'll be back.
