Hairston was placed on the Non-Football Injury list for an undisclosed injury Thursday and has been ruled out for the year, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hairston was expected to serve as a backup tackle for most of the 2017 season. The team signed offensive lineman Tyler Marz from the Titans' practice squad to take over that role in Hairston's absence.

Hairston (groin) is active for Thursday's tilt against the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
Hairston missed last week's game due to the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 4. He likely won't see the field unless an injury on the offensive line forces him into some action.

Hairston (groin) missed Monday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Hairston suffered a groin injury in Week 4's loss to the Saints and will be questionable for Thursday's tilt with the Broncos as a result. Look for more updates to come this week, with Tyreek Burwell the most likely candidate to take over if Hairston is ruled out.

The Chargers have signed Hairston, San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Hairston, who saw action in 41 games for the Bills over the past four seasons, essentially replaces Willie Smith as the backup at both of the Chargers' offensive tackle slots.

Bills OT Chris Hairston has been getting reps at guard during OTAs. Hairston is the favorite for swing tackle duties this season, but could also be the top reserve at guard if Chris Williams or Kraig Urbik misses time. Fifth-round pick Cyril Richardson has struggled in OTAs and may need a year to develop. 25-year-old Hairston spent all last season on the NFI list, but has been a full participant at voluntary workouts.

Bills OT Chris Hairston (illness) has been fully cleared for OTAs. Hairston spent all of 2013 on the reserve/non-football illness list with an undisclosed malady. A talented 25-year-old with 15 career starts, Hairston has lacked the durability required to become a reliable full-time starter, but should make for a quality swing tackle behind Cordy Glenn and Cyrus Kouandjio.

Bills OT Chris Hairston still needs to pass a physical. Hairston spent all of last season on the reserve/NFI list. He battled a foot/ankle injury at the end of the 2012 season and started last summer on PUP before missing most of camp. Right tackle is a weak spot on Buffalo's line. Hairston has great size at 6-foot-6 and 330 pounds but can't be counted on.

Bills placed OT Chris Hairston on the reserve/non-football illness list, ending his season. Erik Pears will be Buffalo's Week 1 right tackle starter. Hairston was slow to recover from an ankle/foot injury, and ostensibly picked up an illness of some sort along the way. He was originally pegged as a starter.
