The Bengals released Baker on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Baker signed a one-year deal with Cincinnati back in March after being cut by the Buccaneers following a disappointing 2017 season. The veteran defensive lineman now has a couple weeks to latch on elsewhere prior to the start of the regular season.

Baker signed a one-year contract with the Bengals on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Baker, who only accumulated 33 tackles and half of a sack in 2017, was recently let go by the Buccaneers less than one year after signing a sizable three-year, $15.75 contract. Now with the Bengals, he'll compete with Andrew Billings for playing time next to Geno Atkins.

The Buccaneers released Baker on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Baker was a major disappointment for the Buccaneers upon signing a three-year, $15.75 million contract last March. Though the defensive lineman missed just one game, he finished with a half sack and 33 tackles, his lowest marks in both categories since 2013. Now on the wrong side of 30 years old and coming off a down season, Baker will likely have to settle for a short-term deal with another club this offseason in order to rebuild value.

Baker finished the 2017 season with 33 tackles (24 solo), a half-sack and two passes defensed over 15 games.
EDGE Analysis
A free-agent signing last offseason, the energetic veteran was a bit of a disappointment overall compared to his last two Redskins seasons. Baker had racked up 100 total tackles, 9.5 sacks, three passes defensed, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries over that pair of campaigns, but he saw his overall production take a hit while lining up next to perennial Pro Bowler Gerald McCoy. The Buccaneers defense also surrendered the 10th-most rush yards per contest (117.5) while tallying the fewest sacks (22), so it's safe to say the addition of Baker didn't represent a net gain for the unit. Baker is on the books for $4.9 million in each of the last two seasons of his contract, but he figures to return next season in a rotational role at a minimum.

Baker posted three solo tackles and a pass defensed in Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Falcons.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old tackle has uncharacteristically failed to record a sack this season after totaling 9.5 over his last pair of Redskins campaigns. He's continued to be solid against the run, but Baker is also on pace for his lowest tackle total since his second pro campaign in 2013. Given his overall downturn in production, he's largely devoid of any fantasy value at the moment.

Baker (ankle) is active for Sunday's Week 9 tilt against the Saints, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran defensive tackle thus unsurprisingly follows up a pair of full practices to close out the week with active status against the Saints. Baker's veteran presence will be especially valued against a versatile New Orleans offense that has leaned heavier on the run this season than in years past.

Baker (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Baker finished the week with a pair of full practices, so it would seem as though he is trending to play Sunday. Clinton McDonald would likely see increased snaps at defensive tackle if Baker is unable to play against the Saints.

Baker (ankle) was a full practice participant Thursday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran defensive lineman was able to take his participation level up a notch after only practicing on a limited basis to open Week 9 prep Wednesday. Baker is currently ahead of last week's practice regimen, when he wasn't able to turn in a full session until Friday. He appears well on his way to playing against the Saints on Sunday, and his presence will be pivotal to the Buccaneers' efforts to slow down a versatile New Orleans offense.

Baker (ankle) managed four solo tackles and one pass defensed in Sunday's 17-3 loss to the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran tackle played through his ankle injury to notch four stops for the second consecutive week. Baker has no less than three tackles in his last four games and has served as the run-stopping presence the Buccaneers were hoping he'd be when they inked him in the offseason. With 17 stops through six games, the 30-year-old remains on pace for his fourth straight 40-tackle season, although he's surprisingly failed to get to the quarterback after posting 9.5 sacks over the last two campaigns.

Baker (ankle) is active for Sunday's Week 8 tilt against the Panthers, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lineman will thus be available to try and slow down Cam Newton, Christian McCaffrey and Jonathan Stewart, the Panthers' three principal rushing threats. Baker's availability is especially welcome considering the Buccaneers lost fellow lineman Noah Spence (shoulder) to season-ending surgery this week.
