Baker (ribs) was limited in the Redskins' practice on Wednesday, Mike Jones of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Baker was limited in practice last week before ultimately playing in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. He is dealing with a variety of nagging injuries including his ribs, elbow, toe, and knee. The Redskins are likely exercising caution with their starting defensive end in order to ensure his health going forward. He appears to be trending toward another questionable designation for Week 3.

Baker (ribs/elbow) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Baker recorded three tackles (one solo) during Monday's loss to the Steelers before heading to the locker room prior to the end of the first half with an injury. At this point it's unclear if he'll be able to play Week 2 against the Cowboys, while another update regarding his status should become available later in the week. Kendall Reyes (groin) would likely be next in line to start at right defensive end if Baker is unable to play.

Baker will not play in Friday's preseason tilt with the Bills in order to rest, Anthony Gulizia of the Washington Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The decision to keep the veteran out of the lineup shouldn't bring too much concern as it is not related to any serious injury. Look for Stephen Paea and Ziggy Hood to see increased action with Baker on the sidelines Friday night.

Baker will not receive a suspension for his hit on Eagles quarterback Nick Foles in Sunday's loss, Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports. The league office determined that although Baker's hit might have looked like an apparent cheap shot, it wasn't illegal by the letter of the law, as the defensive lineman avoided Foles' head and didn't lead with his helmet. Baker will be cleared to start Thursday's showdown with the Giants, assuming the ankle injury he sustained over the weekend doesn't prove too uncomfortable during practices.

Chris Baker has been lining up as the Redskins' starting left end at OTAs. Baker started the final three games at left end last season and signed a new three-year, $9 million deal in February. Barry Cofield and Jason Hatcher are locked in at nose tackle and right end, respectively. Baker will face some competition from Jarvis Jenkins and veteran Stephen Bowen. Baker turns 27 in October.
