Weeden completed 9-of-11 passes for 97 yards and two touchdown passes in Houston's win over Kansas City in Thursday's preseason opener.
EDGE Analysis
Weeden was sharp for the two drives he had, both of which ended in touchdowns to rookie tight end Jordan Akins. He spread the ball around, targeting six different receivers on his first drive. Weeden cemented his role as Deshaun Watson's backup.

Weeden has had a good training camp and appears to be the primary backup to quarterback Deshaun Watson, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weeden has performed on the field during training camp, but in an ideal Texans world, his main contribution will come as an experienced hand behind Watson. "Weed is a good voice in the room," Texans quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan said. "He has experience, he's very helpful with Deshaun. He's gone out, he's done what we asked him. He has natural arm talent, he knows the offense, which helps to kind of get plugged in and really function with the offense." Weeden spent time with the Texans during each of the last three seasons, so his knowledge of the offense gives him a leg up on the other quarterbacks in camp, Joe Webb and Stephen Morris.

Weeden is signing with the Texans, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weeden spent part of 2015 and all of 2016 with the Texans, but he was released at the end of the preseason last year. He later caught on with the Titans as their No. 3 quarterback, ultimately failing to take a snap for a second straight year. The 2012 first-round pick owns a 6-19 record as a starter, with a 57.9 completion percentage, 6.7 yards per attempt, 31 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. He'll compete with Taylor Heinecke for the backup job in Houston, though it's quite possible the team adds more help while Deshaun Watson recovers from a torn ACL.

Weeden (coach's decision) is inactive for the Sunday's game against the 49ers, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Titans' No. 3 quarterback, Weeden has dressed for just one game this season. He'll be inactive on future game days unless starter Marcus Mariota is nursing an injury ending into a given contest.

Weeden signed a one-year contract with the Titans on Tuesday, Conor Orr of NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Even with Marcus Mariota (hamstring) considered day-to-day after avoiding a serious injury in Sunday's loss to Houston, the Titans will still add some insurance at the quarterback position in Weeden. The 33-year-old was most recently released by the Texans prior to the start of the regular season and will likely serve as Matt Cassel's backup this weekend in Miami should Mariota be ruled out.

The Texans decided to release Weeden on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weeden's only realistic route to the Texans' final roster was if they chose to carry three quarterbacks into the regular season. However, the team appears confident enough in projected starter Tom Savage and rookie Deshaun Watson to just go with two options under center. The veteran quarterback is a likely candidate to return to the team's practice squad, but that remains to be seen.

Weeden will backup quarterback Brock Osweiler for Saturday's wild-card playoff game against Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
The Texans have declared Tom Savage out for the playoff game, so Weeden becomes active for the just third time this season. No knock on Weeden, but Osweiler would have to be hurt or play awfully for Houston coach Bill O'Brien to make a switch.

Weeden is a healthy inactive for Sunday's Week 1 tilt with the Bears, the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weeden's inactive status essentially confirms that he'll open the season as the Texans' third-string quarterback behind Brock Osweiler and Tom Savage. Unless Osweiler succumbs to an injury at some point this season, Weeden isn't expected to don a uniform on game days.

Weeden was the third quarterback to enter Houston's preseason opener against San Francisco on Sunday. He played the final five minutes, missing his only attempt in Houston's 24-13 win.
EDGE Analysis
Tom Savage entered after starter Brock Osweiler was removed and stayed in the game well into the fourth quarter. It could be the intent was to give Savage, who missed the entire 2015 season, a longer look. We'll see if the same quarterback pattern holds in preseason Week 2.

Weeden has re-signed with the Texans, the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weeden played for both the Cowboys and Texans last season, passing for 305 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in two appearances for Houston, where he'll remain this season. Although he's destined for a backup position, Weeden's signing serves as another indication that the Texans will part ways with fellow quarterback Brian Hoyer this offseason.
