A Smart Attack fantasysharks.com Tue 6/25/13 6:30 AM

Below are two players in the top 25 that others seem to love more than I do, and two players outside the top 25 that I have a man crush on. (ADP = Average Draft Position) Overvalued Alfred Morris, ADP of 11: Now I have Morris in a keeper league and I am going to exchange my third-round pick for him without any problems. But his average draft position is between the 10th and 12th pick in current mock drafts; I have been seeing him selected as high as seventh overall. Now I think your first two picks need to be sure winners, not question marks. Without the read option as a Washington Redskins staple, how can we project for this kid to dominate? And why do we suddenly trust coach Mike Shanahan again? He is less stable at running back than any other coach. I am not going to say that he does not get the ball 300 times, but it seems like a Shonn Greene double-feature might be in the making. Chris Johnson, ADP of 23: Are you seriously going to take that chance? He has way too much downside for your second pick in any draft. People keep living the dream that he is suddenly going to get that step back and carry the load. He is not that guy. He had his success similar to Jamaal Charles when he slaughtered the league by storm before teams started to game plan for him. I would put Charles in the same boat, but I have a feeling that coach Andy Reid is going to find a way to get Charles going. Others I don't love at their current ADP: Trent Richardson (10), Demaryius Thomas (24), Stevan Ridley (21), Steven Jackson (13). Undervalued Ryan Mathews, ADP of 51: I know the stat sheets ... and I know you think he is fragile. However, there were some games last year where this kid was electric and started to take over the game. He has received tweets from fans hoping he would die. And I say if he dies he is coming back to life as a nightmare for defenses in an up tempo Mike McCoy offense that can use Mathews in the ‘flats' as a receiver and on the ground as slippery ‘I out flanked you' running back. Willis McGahee was dominant under McCoy's scheme, and in 2011 the Denver Broncos led the league in rushing. Watch out for this kid this year! Dwayne Bowe, ADP of 44: I have heard his talk this year that he is going to lead the league in touchdowns and receptions. I am not getting on that train, but he is a big and dominant receiver that can take over the game. Bowe is going to do well with an offensive minded coach and an upgrade at quarterback. Kansas City is ...

Draft Day Steals: Tight Ends fantasysharks.com Fri 6/21/13 12:45 PM

The past few years we have seen the tight end position explode with a barrage of fantasy points. Players such as Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski have put up insane numbers that would usually be synonymous with a top tier wide receiver. But if they produce like a No. 1 wideout, then they must also come with the same price tag. If you're not ready to use a high draft pick on a tight end, the field only gets muddier in the middle rounds. There isn't much separation between Dennis Pitta or Kyle Rudolph. Furthermore, once you reach the Greg Olsen/Martellus Bennet rounds, it's a literal crap shoot. The key to this year's draft is to find that unheralded fantasy tight end, the guy who comes out of nowhere to become an every week starter. Last year Brandon Myers was a waiver wire gem who turned in a top 10 performance at the tight end position. You have the chance to own this year's version of Brandon Myers without the risk of somebody grabbing him off of the wire before you can even open your lap top. So without further ado, here are a few players that will allow you to stock up on other key positions and still whip tail at your tight end spot. Rob Housler, Arizona Housler is one of the tight end/wide receiver hybrids that have started to flood the NFL as of late. As I mentioned above, Brandon Myers was a top 10 tight end last year, and who was feeding him the pigskin out in Oakland? None other than the new quarterback of the Arizona Cardinals, Carson Palmer. Palmer looked to the tight end early and often last year. That may have been the result of the lack of talent and health of the Raiders wide receivers, but outside of Larry Fitzgerald, I don't see much difference with the Cardinals stable of wide outs. Along with Palmer, another beacon of hope arrived in head coach Bruce Arians. Arians likes to throw it deep, and his tight ends are usually not the main focus of his offense. However, I'm not sure if Palmer has the arm for that anymore. Arians might have to dial the deep strikes down a bit and utilize more short and intermediate throws, which would make Housler a prime target. If Palmer can make the long throws, look for Housler to run seam and deep crossing routes while Larry Fitzgerald is being double or even triple teamed. Either way, there should be plenty of room in the middle of the field for Housler to make a huge impact. His tight end frame and wide receiver athleticism make him a matchup nightmare and his potential for yards after ...

Early Sleeper Picks For 2013 fantasysharks.com Fri 6/14/13 3:06 PM

Lamar Miller, RB, Miami - Miller is poised for success in 2013. Not very many people know about him because he played behind Reggie Bush his rookie year. There were reasons the Dolphins let Bush go, and a big reason was the trust they have in Miller. Miller's yards-per-carry average was 4.9 in 2012. You can only expect this to stay the same or increase with the Dolphins' new additions in the offseason. With Mike Wallace to stretch the field, defenses won't be able to crowd the line with defenders. Miller will be even better in a points-per-reception league because he is a great pass-catching running back. The only downside to Miller is his pass-blocking ability. Reports before organized team activities (OTAs) said that would be the deciding factor on Miller and whether he is capable of being Miami's workhorse. Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets - Ivory is just about the only player on the Jets offense that could be capable of putting up significant fantasy points. Ivory comes from New Orleans, where he was fighting for carries with three other running backs, so he is relatively unknown. Last year, Shonn Greene finished 15th in fantasy points for running backs while playing with the struggling Jets offense of 2012. While Greene isn't terrible, he sure isn't close to elite either. With Ivory coming in boasting a yards-per-carry average of 5.1, he has potential to be a top 15 running back. T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis - Hilton is slowly molding into Andrew Luck's favorite target. Both were rookies last year and helped each other be successful. While Hilton won't be the No. 1 wide receiver this year, he is still an incredible deep threat. His 4.34 speed makes it very hard for corners to stay with him, and his 7.9 yards after the catch average was second among all NFL wideouts. As long as he beats out Darrius Heyward-Bey for the second wide receiver spot, he should be successful. With Ahmad Bradshaw or Vick Ballard at running back keeping defenses honest, and Luck throwing him the ball, he could have a huge increase in production this year. Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland - Gordon is suspended the first two games of the season, which hurts his fantasy value quite a bit. In a way, though, this makes Gordon more of a sleeper pick as you will be able to pick him in a later round. After his two-game suspension, Gordon will make a huge impact on the Browns offense. He gives them the vertical threat that Norv Turner's offense thrives on. Remember the breakout player ...

Fantasy Football Impact: Will Brandon Myers be a TE1 in New York brunoboys.net Tue 3/19/13 7:53 PM

Written by Cory StegerEdited by Marc CavigliaBrandon Myers picked the perfect time to have a career year. The tight end did a whole lot of nothing his first three seasons with the Oakland Raiders, then caught 79 passes for 806 yards and four touchdowns last season. The New York Giants were in the market for a new tight end after Martellus Bennett signed with the Chicago Bears, so it was that Myers signed with the Giants. He ended up signing a one-year, $2.25 million contract. Not bad for a guy who 32 total passes in his first three seasons. Also a good deal for the team too.
