Okay, so the week in review? It was a case of chalking one up in the win column. It wasn't without its pitfalls, but the second-highest score of the weekend meant it wasn't as uncomfortable as it could've been. The best piece of news to take away from last weekend's games was the play of our rostered safeties. For those of you following, you'll remember Kurt Coleman bouncing around the roster off and on. Seems like he's got the green light and the bit between his teeth. The investment in Atari Bigby off the waiver wire (see below), the drafting of Harrison Smith and the patience in T.J. Ward (though what else could owners do?) has all come good. So far. Which, while staggeringly early, is a mild surprise at least as I was fully prepared for two-out-of-four roster spots to be giving me fits and yips for the rest of the season. Linebacker and safety should be your "bankers," your "home games." Other positions can fluctuate wildly - defensive line and cornerback - but provided you have consistent production from both your linebacker and safety, you'll win more than you lose. Here's how the waiver wire shook down: Post Wk1 Waiver report As you can see, we missed on Tarell Brown, who I think is a good play this week. Can't go back to the wire for Randall Gay either (same story - good matchup and taken by a savvy owner). There are a couple of other cornerbacks I might go back and play around with closer to the weekend, but with Cleveland depleted in the secondary (suspension and injuries) it should make for an interesting game against A.J. Green and company this week. Bottom line: This league is competitive and you have to prioritize your waiver claims. I went with safety first. Literally. I was never going to get everyone, and anyone who remembers how badly I missed out on targets off the waiver as they went right before me will realize I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm ecstatic to have two-out-of-three go through successfully! The lineup for this week has been giving me pause for thought, though. Current Week 2 Lineup Basically, I'm going with Jurrell Casey over Dareus at defensive tackle due to his brother being the victim of a tragic and fatal shooting in a multiple homicide this past week. Sometimes you remember football is just football... Defensive end is much easier, it more or less picks itself now. I prefer Robert Quinn's matchup against Washington, than Adrian Clayborn's.
