Dixon was released by the Bills on Tuesday, WGR550.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boobie was one of the team's better locker room guys and the fans will certainly miss his colorful personality, but Karlos Williams and Mike Gilleslee easily passed him on the depth chart in 2015. Dixon had plenty of opportunity as the running back corps was decimated with injuries, but he managed just 2.10 yards per carry, and that's for a team that led the league in rushing. He'll likely sign elsewhere in a depth spot, perhaps as a No. 3 or No. 4 guy.

Dixon (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
EDGE Analysis
Though LeSean McCoy is sidelined Sunday, Dixon remains a fantasy dart in Week 16, with both Karlos Williams and Mike Gillislee ahead of him in the Bills' running back pecking order.

Dixon (knee) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
EDGE Analysis
Though fellow RB LeSean McCoy has been ruled out for the contest, Dixon remains a fantasy long-shot in Week 16, with Karlos Williams and Mike Gillislee ahed of him in the Bills' backfield pecking order.

Dixon (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Even with LeSean McCoy expected to miss this week's game against the Cowboys, Dixon has fallen behind Mike Gillislee in the pecking order, and he was already behind Karlos Williams.

Dixon's teammate Karlos Williams has officially been ruled out this week due to a shoulder injury.
EDGE Analysis
The Bills will bring up Mike Gillislee from the practice squad, but given Dixon's experience and familiarity with the offense, he's the likely two guy behind LeSean McCoy. That said, this will be Shady's week and the best you're probably hoping for from Dixon is a few odd carries and perhaps a crack or two near the goal line.

Dixon did not log a carry or a catch in Sunday's loss to the Bengals.
EDGE Analysis
LeSean McCoy took all 17 carries that went to a running back, while Dan Herron caught two passes. Dixon had a small window of opportunity when McCoy and Karlos Williams (concussion) were out in Week 5 but failed to do much with it. With McCoy back and Williams possibly not far behind, Dixon can be safely dropped by those that picked him up based on potential volume.

Dixon carried the ball seven times for 19 yards, and caught all three of his targets for 20 more yards Sunday in Tennessee.
EDGE Analysis
Owners hoping for cheap production out of Dixon with LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Karlos Williams (concussion) out had to be disappointed to see him cede the majority of the team's carries to Dan Herron. Neither running back was particularly effective, and both will probably return to obscurity soon as the rest of the Bills backfield gets healthier.

Dixon's teammates LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams have both officially been ruled out for Sunday's game in Tennessee.
EDGE Analysis
The team and coach Rex Ryan have been talking all week about "Boobie Time," and now he'll officially get that chance. On the bright side, Dixon will get first crack at getting the running game going against a Titans defense that hasn't been great against the run. On the flip side, Dixon doesn't have a track record of being a feature back - even though the colorful character will be the first to tell you he's perfect for the job - and there are already rumblings that that team will mix in Dan Herron and Cierre Wood if Boobie Time turns into Bust Time. That all said, he's the Buffalo back to own if you're in a Week 5 pinch.

Dixon's two teammates, Karlos Williams and LeSean McCoy, did not practice for the second straight day Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
McCoy seems highly doubtful to play this week against Tennessee and Williams would need to practice Friday to have any chance. Bills coach Rex Ryan has already made statements this week implying Dixon is his Week 5 starter. No matter how Friday unfolds, Dixon will be a hot pickup this week as the run-oriented Bills prepare to face the Titans and their 22nd-ranked run defense.

Dixon's teammate Karlos Williams suffered a concussion during Sunday's loss to the Giants, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williams could still get through the league's concussion protocol in time for Sunday's game in Tennessee, plus there's a long shot that LeSean McCoy could rally from his hamstring injury. But we'll note that Dixon is the clear next back in the pecking order behind those two, so there's a chance he could be more than just a short-yardage guy this week.
