The Lions released Quarless on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Quarless signed with the Lions after spending his first six seasons with the Packers. Detroit was looking for tight end depth at the time, but appear content with the position at the moment . The timing of the release is curious considering the 27-year-old just completed a two-game suspension to start the season.

Quarless (suspension) signed a deal with the Lions on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
With tight ends Eric Ebron and Brandon Pettigrew both recovering from injuries, the Lions are facing serious depth issues at tight end for this coming season. And while Quarless will still be suspended for the first two games of the regular season, he had a solid stint with the Packers and would be a formidable option for the team should neither Ebron nor Pettigrew be ready by Week 3. He is eligible to start practicing with the team immediately.

Quarless has been suspended two games for violating the league's personal conduct policy, Ian Rapoport reports.
EDGE Analysis
Quarless was released by the Packers earlier this offseason after missing the vast majority of last season due to a knee injury. Now with a two-game suspension stemming from a July 2015 incident in which he discharged a firearm in public, Quarless has been dealt tough blow as he remains unsigned ahead of this season.

Quarless (knee) was placed on season-ending injured reserve Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Quarless missed the vast majority of this season due to a knee issue, which required fluid draining earlier this week. With concerns over his healthy and effectiveness going forward, the Packers decided to shut Quarless down for the year, opening the door for Justin Perillo to serve as Richard Rodgers' main backup at tight end.

Quarless (knee) will be placed on injured reserve by the Packers, the ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Quarless posted on Instagram on Thursday that his "season has come to an end not by my choice," and he's expected to be placed on injured reserve at some point Friday. Quarless reportedly had fluid drained from his knee recently, an issue that stems back to an early-season injury that landed him on the injured reserve/designated to return list after Week 3. The sixth-year tight end was a limited participant in practice both Wednesday and Thursday, but the Packers were apparently not convinced about his health and will likely hand his roster spot to another receiver or tight end for the team's Divisional Round matchup against the Cardinals on Saturday.

Quarless caught two passes for 17 yards in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Playing in his first game Sunday since Week 3, Quarless -- although not by much -- topped fellow tight end Richard Rodgers in both receptions and yards. Quarless could see more snaps in Week 17 with a game under his belt, but he will take on a Vikings team that has routinely shut down opposing tight ends of late.

Quarless (knee) was activated from the IR/designated-to-return list Monday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Quarless is set to make his first appearance since suffering a sprained MCL in Week 3. During his absence, Richard Rodgers has taken control of the starting TE spot, but Quarless could make an immediate impact in the red zone, where he picked up 15 targets in 16 games last season.

Quarless (knee) did not play in Sunday's victory over the Cowboys.
EDGE Analysis
Quarless resumed practicing a couple weeks ago, but he was apparently not ready for game action just yet, as he remained on short-term injured reserve for Week 13. There is a chance he could be activated for the Packers' next game Sunday against the Raiders.

Quarless (knee) continued to participate in practice this week, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. After Wednesday's practice, Quarless said, "I'm practicing hard. Practice this week has been going real good, a lot better than last week. It's definitely something to look forward to."
EDGE Analysis
Quarless wasn't listed on the Packers' injury report to start the week, as he remains on the IR/designated-to-return list, but his comments seem to indicate that he could be activated in advance of Sunday's game against the Cowboys. If the Packers can't warrant the roster spot on game day, though, he'll have one more week to prove that he can play again this season.

Quarless (knee) won't be activated for Thursday's game at Detroit, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Once the Packers cleared Quarless to take part in practice Monday, he was able to handle some reps each day this week, but it wasn't enough to appease the mind of the training and medical staffs. His next chance to return to action arrives on Dec. 13 against the Cowboys.
