Ex-Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez pleaded not guilty to seven charges at his Wednesday arraignment on two counts of first-degree murder. The arraignment took place in Suffolk Superior Court. Hernandez is charged with the shooting deaths of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in 2012. This is separate from Hernandez's first-degree murder charge for allegedly causing the death of Odin Lloyd in 2013. From everything we've read, the evidence in both cases is pretty overwhelmingly in the prosecution's favor.

But now he has to be in cuffs, complete with a waist chain and leg irons, every time time he leaves his cell. A source tells NECN that Hernandez was not in handcuffs at the time of the fight, but the other inmate was. "I'm not happy that there may have been a breakdown in our system and our protocols," sheriff Thomas Hodgson said. Hernandez is still awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to the murder of Odin Lloyd.

TMZ reports incarcerated former Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez attacked another inmate at Bristol County Jail on Tuesday, and "beat the guy up pretty good." For his protection, Hernandez is usually segregated from the general prison population, but somehow "came into contact with another inmate." The two had reportedly been "beefing all day long." It doesn't sound like Hernandez has learned a thing behind bars. It's another strike against him as state builds its case against him in multiple murders.

The Taunton Daily Gazette reports prosecutors in the Aaron Hernandez case won't call Carlos Ortiz, once believed to be the star witness, to the stand to testify as a witness at all. Neither Ortiz nor Ernest Wallace, the two men believed to be in the car with Hernandez and victim Odin Lloyd on the night of the murder, apparently will not be called as witnesses. Prosecutors reportedly view Ortiz as "completely unreliable" because his story has changed dramatically over the past couple months. Prosecutors now want to look over Hernandez's phone conversations via text message in search of "coded messages" he may have sent to his fiancee or cousin. The case against Hernandez may not be as strong as once believed.
