Randolph is expected to be released by the Nuggets, the Denver Post reports. Randolph was claimed off waivers Wednesday in a move made purely for salary reasons. The Nuggets are trying to get as close to the salary floor as possible to avoid having to pay a penalty for failing to meet the minimum team payroll of $56.759 million. By releasing Randolph, the Nuggets can maintain his cap hit - assuming he clears waivers - bringing them closer to the salary floor. The move would also free up a roster spot to bring in a player who could remain on the roster through the summer and training camp.

Randolph was awarded to the Nuggets off waivers on Wednesday, Marc Stein of ESPN reports. Randolph was waived by the Celtics on Monday after he declined to sign a non-guaranteed deal for next season. He'll spend the final week-and-a-half of the season with the Nuggets, where he'll likely serve an end-of-the-bench role. Randolph played only 24 minutes for Boston after coming over from Phoenix in mid-January.

Randolph was waived by the Celtics on Monday, the team's official site reports. Since he was dealt from Phoenix to Boston on Jan. 15, Randolph has made merely five appearances, averaging 1.4 points (on 30 percent shooting) and 1.6 rebounds in five minutes. Such production is disposable for a developmental player like Chris Babb, who was signed by the Celtics on Monday.

Randolph has yet to play in any of the 14 games in which he has been on the Celtics roster. The 31-year old veteran doesn't really need to rest this All-Star break. Should Boston pull off a big trade before the deadline, Randolph could be included as a chip that helps balance out salaries.

SOMETHINGWRONGWITHTHISLINK Randolph is yet to appear in a game since coming to Boston in a trade from Phoenix earlier in the month. The former Duke standout will likely serve as a fringe-rotational big man once healthy.

Randolph was traded to Boston on Thursday in a three-team deal that sent Austin Rivers to the Clippers and Reggie Bullock to the Suns, ESPN's Marc Stein reports. Randolph, who's appeared in only 16 games for the Suns, is essentially a throw-in in the deal and could be waived by the Celtics in short order. The former Duke standout has played for five NBA teams since entering the league in 2005 and spent a brief, 16-game stint in Boston during the 2012-13 campaign.

Randolph is averaging just 6.3 minutes on the court this season over the eight games that he's seen time on the court. Randolph is one of the last options off the bench in Phoenix this season and there's not much reason to believe that will change in the near future. Unless injuries sweep over the Suns, Randolph will be a limited option off the bench as the season continues.

Randolph played 26 minutes and scored 10 points against the Lakers Tuesday. Randolph was dealing with a minor knee injury last week, but he was able to play in the Suns last few games and should be ready to go for the regular season opener. Either way, he'll probably only get minimal time as a reserve.

Randolph (knee) won't play Thursday against the Spurs. Randolph is dealing with a minor knee injury and will sit out, leaving the Suns with 13 active players Thursday. The forward will hold down a minor bench role this season, if he sticks on the roster.

Newly-acquired Suns PF Shavlik Randolph logged 10 minutes off the bench on Sunday, scoring two points with two rebounds and one steal. Head coach Jeff Hornacek praised Randolph's "knack" for rebounding before the game, but the 30-year-old PF is not a fantasy option even if he does emerge as a regular rotation player.
