It's a bit concerning for him, considering he was cut prior to the team's preseason schedule, but he'll still have the opportunity to latch on elsewhere. Copeland signed a training camp contract with the Pelicans on Thursday, Brett Dawson of the New Orleans Advocate reports.

The Pelicans, like any other NBA team, have the ability to bring no more than 20 players to training camp before trimming their roster to 15 before the season begins. Copeland, who is coming off a miserable season with the Bucks that culminated in his release in February, figures to be one of the five players on the outside looking in for a roster berth. During the 2015-16 campaign, the forward averaged just 2.1 points in 6.5 minutes per game across 24 appearances while shooting 33.3 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from three-point range.

Copeland will be waived by Orlando just after being claimed off waivers from Milwaukee on Wednesday, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.

This move by the Magic ultimately allows the organization to get above the salary floor as they had no intent to actually utilize Copeland on the court. He has the ability to stretch the court at the power forward position, but his lack of defensive abilities has prevented him from court time in the past and will likely be the biggest determining factor in whether or not another NBA team will take a chance on him in the future.

Copeland has played in just three of the Bucks' 11 games in December, but was able to jump back into the rotation with Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) sitting out and Greg Monroe dealing with foul trouble. That said, the eight minutes seem to represent the high range of playing time that Copeland will typically receive on a given night, so his fantasy appeal remains minimal.

Copeland failed to see any action in Milwaukee's 87-82 loss to the Hornets on Sunday

Despite being held out of the game on Sunday, Copeland usually does get at least some minutes off the bench for Milwaukee. However, he doesn't tend to see very much time in any given game and is only averaging 8.2 minutes per game this season.

Copeland opened the season the first couple games as one of the Bucks' go-to guys and playing around 20 minutes per game. However, Milwaukee is slowly regained their health early on this year and Copeland's playing time has taken a hit. Through nine games, Copeland is averaging 4.0 points in 9.4 minutes per game. He doesn't offer much value outside of his ability to score, and he's going to be in a constant battle for minutes throughout 2015-16.
