Boozer becomes an unrestricted free agent heading into the offseason after serving a bench role with the Lakers. The 11-year veteran had a statistically mediocre season in which he averaged 11.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.2 blocks in 24 minutes per game. Boozer contributed to the Lakers throughout the 2014-15 season as a bench player, appearing in 71 games. It was expected that the 33 year old would play fewer minutes this past season due to his age, loss of production, and defensive woes so the decrease in points and rebounds from last season is not a surprise. He did not have much value in most standard leagues, especially because of his faults in defensive categories, and that trend is likely to continue for the rest of his future in the league. Boozer has entered the time period of his career in which he is accepting of a bench role and wants nothing but a championship. He has expressed interest in re-signing with the Lakers in hopes of winning a title, as the team has a possibility of improving enough this offseason to become a legitimate contender, having the second pick in the draft, the return of Kobe Bryant, and a possible big-name free agent signing. No matter what team Boozer ends up signing with this offseason, he is likely to remain in a bench role and see a decrease in production and minutes, which gives him very little value in standard leagues.

Boozer (illness) returned to action and posted four points, three rebounds, one assist, and two steals in 18 minutes of action Wednesday against the Pelicans. Boozer has missed the last five games with an illness and has seen quite a big decline in his production this season. He's averaging 10.6 points and 7.0 rebounds in March, making him hard to own in standard leagues.

Boozer has been held out of the last two contests, but coach Byron Scott said that both Boozer and Jordan Hill, who is also being rested, could be back Sunday against Brooklyn or Monday against Philadelphia. The goal in resting both players has been to free up minutes for the likes of Tarik Black, Ryan Kelly and Ed Davis. Coincidentally, the Lakers lose their first round pick if it falls outside of the top five.

Boozer is expected to stay off the court for the next 4-5 games at the request of coach Byron Scott, the Los Angeles Daily News reports. Scott reportedly asked Boozer and Jordan Hill to sit over the next couple of weeks so guys like Ed Davis, Ryan Kelly, Robert Sacre, and Tarik Black could see extended time on the court. This already played itself out Tuesday against the Thunder and Boozer can be dropped across all formats as a result.

Boozer's sprain was only considered mild after he suffered it Sunday. It's no surprise that he played Tuesday, and will continue to come off the bench for the Lakers going forward.
