Blake Wood (elbow) will continue his minor league rehab assignment Wednesday with Class A Lake County.

Wood felt some soreness in his surgically-repaired elbow during his first appearance on Saturday, but it was only a minor scare. The 27-year-old right-hander is currently in recovery mode from Tommy John surgery and will likely need a handful of appearances before he's a legitimate consideration for the major league roster.

Blake Wood's rehab assignment has been halted after he felt soreness in his surgically-repaired right elbow in his first appearance with Double-A Akron on Saturday.

Wood will resume the assignment once the soreness subsides. It's obviously not ideal, but pitchers often encounter little bumps in the road as they work their way back from Tommy John surgery.

Blake Wood (elbow) will begin light throwing activities on October 12.

Wood underwent Tommy John surgery on May 25. He's a bit ahead of schedule, as normally pitchers go six month after the procedure without throwing. It's possible he could be ready for the start of next season, but most likely he'll begin the year on the DL.
