Wood has a 2.96 ERA and 1.40 WHIP across 24.1 innings since the beginning of May.
EDGE Analysis
The 31-year-old continues to gradually lower his ERA, but is still pitching mostly in low-pressure situations. The Reds have lost the last eight games in which the right-hander has appeared. Wood has recorded 35 strikeouts over 34.2 innings this season, but has also issued 17 walks.

Wood has allowed six runs (three earned) over 13.1 innings during the month of May.
EDGE Analysis
After struggling through April with an ERA of 5.23, the 31-year-old has rebounded and carries a 1.80 ERA over his last 15 innings of work. Wood has issued 11 base on balls in that same stretch, but has done a better job of keeping the ball down with a 3.11 GB/FB in May. The right-hander has yet to allow a home run in 23.2 innings this season but has mostly been limited to low-pressure situations.

Wood has given up four runs over 6.2 innings through the early part of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Wood's early-season struggles come with the caveat of eight strikeouts, most likely due to his percentage of strikes thrown increasing by nine percent. However, opponents are still hitting .296 against him, and he blew his only save opportunity. Owners should hope the 31-year-old can somewhat return to last season's form, when he posted a 3.99 ERA in 76.2 innings.

Wood and the Reds avoided arbitration with a $1.275 deal, Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wood's major league work has been sporadic since making the big leagues in 2010, but he managed to find a regular role with the bullpen-strapped Reds, his third team, in 2016. The 31-year-old posted a 3.99 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 76.2 innings and was rewarded with a decent raise in his first round of arbitration.

Wood allowed two homers in the eighth inning to blow the lead Tuesday against the Cardinals, but was bailed out in the ninth inning when Scott Schebler hit a walk-off homer.
EDGE Analysis
The blown save was Wood's fourth of the season. Prior to Tuesday he had allowed only one homer all year. It was interesting to see that none of the Reds' three best relievers (Raisel Iglesias, Michael Lorenzen or Tony Cingrani) worked in this game, and instead Wood was given the ball with the lead in the eighth.

Wood allowed the game-tying run Saturday against the Nats, allowing a run on a hit and three walks over two-thirds of an inning.
EDGE Analysis
Wood was lucky to allow just the one run, as Josh Smith was able to induce a pop-out with the bases loaded to strand Wood's three runners. Wood's 3.38 ERA might sughest that he's pitching well, but his 1.55 WHIP, fueled by 26 walks in 40 innings, tells the real story. The bright note for him is that he has allowed only one homer, which makes him an anomaly in the Reds bullpen.

Wood is back with the team after being reinstated from the paternity list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Wood missed the last three games as he spent time with his family. He will be back with the team as they face San Diego on Friday, while outfielder Kyle Waldrop was optioned to Triple-A Louisville to make room for Wood. The 30-year-old reliever has posted a 3.57 ERA with a 1.53 WHIP during 35.1 innings this season.

Wood was placed on the paternity list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Per MLB rules, the Reds will be without Wood for at least one game while he is away from the team to be with his family. He can miss up to three games, so Cincinnati could be thin in the back of the bullpen for their quick interleague series against the Rangers. Raisel Iglesias, who will be used as a reliever, was activated by the Reds in a corresponding move Tuesday.

Wood picked up his first save with a scoreless inning despite allowing a hit and two walks in Tuesday's win over Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
J.J. Hoover pitched two scoreless innings in his first game back from injury before Wood nailed it down, and given Wood's shakiness, Hoover may find himself back in the closer's role before long. Still, Wood has been one of the few competent players in the Reds bullpen, with a 3.41 ERA that ranks as the best among regular Reds relievers this year. If Hoover doesn't jump back into the closer's role, Wood will be the natural choice going forward given his relative success.

Wood (5-1) fired two innings of no-hit ball in Friday's 2-1 victory over the A's. He walked one and also notched a pair of strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Although the Reds sport one of the lowest-ranked bullpens in the majors, Wood has managed to forge a solid record despite his own share of struggles. Wood has thrived in multi-inning outings this season, as he's yet to give up an earned run on the four occasions in which he's pitched two full frames. He's now turned in scoreless efforts in six of his last eight trips to the mound, and has seven whiffs over his last five innings.
