Wood (3-0) played the role of hero on Monday, tossing four perfect innings of relief against the Dodgers after starter Jason Hammel left with injury.
EDGE Analysis
Wood combined with three other relievers to no-hit the Dodgers for the final seven innings of the Memorial Day matinee. The lefty has been magnificent out of the bullpen in 2016, registering a 2.79 ERA and 0.93 WHIP. He could be an option to start down the road if the Cubs suffer an injury in the rotation.

Wood pitched 1.1 scoreless innings and earned the win in the Cubs' 2-1 victory over the Brewers in 13 innings Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Wood actually drove in the go-ahead run with a bases-loaded walk in the the top of the 13th. While he's walked five batters and hit another in just 11 innings this year, opposing hitters are hitting just .195 against him, keeping his ERA in a safe area.

Wood pitched 0.2 innings in Sunday's loss to the Braves, walking one batter and retiring two others.
EDGE Analysis
Having appeared in 11 games this season, Wood is continuing to show his value to the Cubs by shutting down batters in short stints out of the bullpen. The only blemish on his game logs this season is an outing where he surrendered two runs in less than one inning. Apart from that game, Wood hasn't given up any runs and is carrying a 0.95 WHIP and 9.95 K/9.

Wood struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning against the Angels on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Wood likely won't pitch in the ninth inning in close Cubs wins this year, but he came into the game with a nine-run lead.

Wood pitched two innings Friday against the White Sox, striking out three and walking one.
EDGE Analysis
Wood has been stretched out a tad this spring, never pitching fewer than two innings in any of his appearances, but he's ticketed for the Cubs' bullpen, especially with Kyle Hendricks pitching so well.

Wood will start in the Cubs' spring opener Thursday, the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
In what many are hoping will be a historic season in Chicago, Wood gets the honor of getting the ball rolling. He's not really a candidate for the starting rotation, though he may get a few spot starts this year if necessary.

Wood will be stretched out this spring, Carrie Muskat of the Cubs' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wood was a revelation as a reliever last year after a less-than-stellar career as a starter. He's not likely to win a rotation job in Chicago, but he'll have to be ready to go if the Cubs' rotation is hit by injuries.

Wood agreed to terms with the Cubs on a one-year, $6.17 million deal Friday, avoiding arbitration, the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wood shifted over to a primarily bullpen role in 2015, making just nine starts compared to 45 appearances out of the bullpen. He figures to return to the pen next season to hold down a key role in long relief.

Wood earned his third save by recording two outs in the ninth inning in a 4-1 victory over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Wood has been spectacular in September, surrendering only one earned run during the month, and notching multiple strikeout efforts in seven of 10 appearances. He is also two-for-two in save opportunities and has generated an outstanding 0.64 ERA. Wood's precise role in the postseason is yet to be determined, but he will undoubtedly continue to serve as a key component of the Cubs bullpen.

Wood allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out three over 2.2 innings in Saturday's start.
EDGE Analysis
He tossed 46 pitches as the first man up in a bullpen day for the Cubs and did an adequate job. Expect Wood to head back to long relief after this outing.
