Wood (1-1) allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits with four walks and seven strikeouts over five innings in Wednesday's loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Wood logged a quality start in his Padres debut at home, but has been brutal in a pair of subsequent road performances with nine earned runs allowed in 10 innings. The long ball did him in here, as both Eugenio Suarez and Stuart Turner took the southpaw deep. Between his own recent struggles and the lack of run support offered by San Diego's 30th-ranked offense, Wood won't have much value despite a good matchup in his next start Monday against the Phillies.

Wood allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings, but received no decision Friday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Wood started out strong by holding the Pirates scoreless for four innings before giving up two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, and in the process blew the 3-0 lead he was provided. Since coming over from the Royals, he's faced the Pirates in both of his starts, posting a 4.50 ERA. On the season, he has a 6.49 ERA along with a 1.65 WHIP, making him a risky fantasy option. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Reds.

Wood (1-0) tossed six innings of two-run ball while striking out seven in his first start with the Padres on Friday. He was the winning pitcher of record in a 3-2 win over Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Initially considered an afterthought in Monday's six-player trade between San Diego and Kansas City, Wood looked like a rejuvenated pitcher in his debut with the Friars. The 30-year-old exhibited impeccable control, throwing 51 of his 81 pitches for strikes while recording a season-high seven punchouts. Despite looking like a new pitcher Friday, Wood continued his fly ball tendencies, inducing just three groundballs compared to eight in the air. He can get away with that style of pitching in the pitcher-friendly confines of Petco Park, but he may not be so fortunate at other venues. That said, Wood's next start comes on the road in a rematch with the Pirates next Friday.

Wood will make his first start with the Padres on Friday against the Pirates, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wood was part of the return package the Padres got when they traded with the Royals on Monday, and he'll slot right into his new team's rotation. He'll match up with right-hander Chad Kuhl in the series opener.

Wood was traded to the Padres on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
After his most recent rough start, the Royals opted to upgrade their pitching by shipping Wood and two other players to San Diego in exchange for Trevor Cahill, Brandon Maurer and Ryan Buchter. Wood will likely slot right into San Diego's rotation, although his 6.91 ERA and potential to pitch at Coors Field this season hardly makes him an attractive fantasy option following this change in scenery.

Wood surrendered four runs on seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts over 4.2 innings in Sunday's no-decision against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Wood kept Chicago off the board through four innings, but fell apart completely in the fifth. The southpaw was pulled with two outs and a runner on second, with the bullpen adding an extra run to his line by allowing the inherited runner to score. Wood has failed to pitch a full five innings in any of his three starts this season, so expectations should be tempered when he takes the mound Saturday in Boston.

Wood (1-3) gave up six runs on nine hits over 4.1 innings in Tuesday's 9-3 loss to the Tigers. He struck out just one and didn't issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
There's certainly such a thing as being around the plate too much, and Wood qualified in this one. He's in the midst of a truly awful campaign, as it's hard to generate any optimism from Wood's 6.81 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 25:19 K:BB. Assuming he hangs around in the rotation -- and there aren't many alternatives available to the Royals -- it'll be worth fantasy owners taking advantage of those hitters who match up against him.

Wood allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three batters through four innings during Sunday's win over Minnesota. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran lefty has plenty of rotation experience, but this was his first start since the 2015 campaign. He sports an underwhelming 6.06 ERA and 1.81 WHIP for the year, and Wood will likely remain a desperation fantasy option regardless of his role with the Royals.

Wood will start Sunday's game against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty will be making his first start since 2015 with the Cubs after Saturday's doubleheader left the Royals will a dearth of alternative options for spot starts. Though Wood is well rested after having made his last appearance June 25, he hasn't covered more than three innings in a game this season, so he'll likely face some sort of pitch limit Sunday. It's expected that Wood will transition back to a long-relief role following the start.

Wood is the leading candidate to start Sunday's game against the Twins, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wood's status for Sunday hinges on what happens over the course of Saturday's doubleheader. If either Luke Farrell or Jason Hammel have a short outing, Wood could be called upon in long relief, which would take him out of the running for a spot start in the series finale. Still, if Wood does start Sunday, it'd likely be a short outing given that he hasn't started a game this season and hasn't gone more than 3.0 innings in any of his relief appearances in 2017.
