Deduno was reinstated from the DL at Triple-A Norfolk and subsequently released.
EDGE Analysis
Deduno signed on with the Orioles back in February and had spent the entire season, to date, in the minors. The right-hander posted a 6.86 ERA across 21.0 innings of work for Houston last season, but at this point it appears doubtful that he'll find his way back to the majors in 2016.

Deduno agreed to a minor league contract with the Orioles, Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
Deduno pitched at both the Triple-A and major league level last season, but didn't see much success at either stop. He also was forced to have hip surgery, which led the Astros to outright him off the 40-man roster. The right-hander will hope to get back to his 2013 form, when he posted a 3.83 ERA in 18 starts with the Twins.

Deduno (hip) was outrighted off the Astros' 40-man roster Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old made just nine appearances (two starts) in 2015 before succumbing to a season-ending hip injury, allowing 16 runs with a 17:9 K:BB in 21 innings. He was always a long-shot to maintain his 40-man spot through the Rule 5 roster deadline.

Deduno will have another specialist examine his hip, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Deduno was able to return to the mound last week to pitch a simulated game, but it appears he's hit another road block in the recovery process. The Astros ruled out the possibility of Deduno requiring surgery on his hip a couple weeks ago, though a consultation with a different doctor could yield a change in his prognosis this time around.

Deduno (hip) threw a simulated game Monday, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Deduno continues to ramp up his activity after it was revealed earlier this month that his ailing him will not require surgery. He's without a target return date, but the team hopes he can progress to the point that he'll be ready to begin a rehab assignment over the next couple of weeks.

Deduno (hip) is scheduled to throw batting practice at some point during the Astros' current homestand, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. Deduno received positive news earlier this month when he was cleared to bypass surgery on his ailing hip, and after taking some time off to rest, it appears he's ready to intensify his throwing. If the batting practice sessions go well, Deduno could head out on a rehab assignment shortly thereafter.

Deduno (hip) won't need surgery after visiting with a specialist Tuesday, the Houston Chronicle's Evan Drellich reports. This is excellent news for Deduno, who will begin a rehab program soon. However, there is still no timetable for his return.

Deduno, who has been working his way back from a lower-back strain, will be shut down indefinitely due to a hip issue, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports. The hip pain is likely in some way related to right-hander's initial injury, and a meeting with a specialist Monday should offer more details about the setback. Deduno said he still felt bothered by the hip during his rehab assignment Friday at Triple-A Fresno, when he was expected to cover two frames but lasted just one inning and walked four batters.

Deduno (back) went for a precautionary MRI on Tuesday, the Houston Chronicle's Evan Drellich reports. Deduno, who was placed on the 15-day DL on Monday, said the discomfort had been building since spring training. The lower-back strain is felt in the area of his right hip. Consider him out indefinitely until we learn the results of the MRI.

The Astros placed Deduno on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a lower back strain, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports. Deduno has not thrown since last Wednesday, and it is now evident why. He will be eligible to return to action in late May, but it remains to be seen how long he will be sidelined.
