Davis went 3-for-5 in Friday's 7-2 loss to the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder is now 5-for-16 since returning from the disabled list, although all five hits have been singles. Davis has improved his strikeout and contact rates this season, but his soft contact rate has jumped more than 11 percent to 30.5, a partial explanation for the drops he's seen across his slash line. He's also vowed to be more aggressive on the basepaths after leading the AL with 43 steals last season, but he's just 1-for-3 in that department over his first 19 games in 2017.

Davis is missing from the Athletics' lineup Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The outfielder just returned from the disabled list Tuesday but will not start in the Thursday matinee. Davis is batting just .215/.257/.354 in 70 plate appearances this year.

Davis is starting in right field and hitting leadoff Tuesday against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Davis was reinstated from the disabled list Tuesday, so it comes as no surprise that he's back in the lineup. Now that he's back in full health, Davis will aim to get his hitting back on track as he was slashing just .214/.262/.375 prior to landing on the DL.

Davis (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day DL on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
He had been a little unfortunate on balls in play (.250 BABIP) prior to suffering the injury, but should have no problem regaining the everyday job in center field right away. The A's had been using Jaff Decker and Ryan LaMarre, who was optioned back to Triple-A on Monday, in center field while Davis was out, and he serves as a clear, immediate upgrade now that he is healthy. Even at 36, Davis remains a legitimate threat to steal 30-plus bases for the eighth time in the past nine seasons.

Davis (hamstring), who notched an AL-best 43 steals with the Indians in 2016, is looking forward to being more aggressive on the basepaths upon his Tuesday activation from the disabled list, John Hickey of the East Bay Times reports. "I'd like to come back and change the dynamic," Davis said on the eve of his return. "Look at the Astros when they run. They're stealing bases, they're going first to third, they're doing those little things that get irritating for a defense and for a pitcher."
EDGE Analysis
The veteran had swiped just one bag in three attempts over 61 plate appearances before hitting the DL, but the time off rehabbing his injury allowed him to reflect on the need to be more proactive when he gets on. Manager Bob Melvin has acknowledged that the combined absences of Davis and Marcus Semien (wrist) -- the "only two guys who give us speed threats" according to the Oakland skipper -- have hurt the overall production of the Athletics' offense. To guard against further soft tissue injuries and keep him limber on the basepaths, Davis has restarted a practice called MAT (Muscle Activation Technique), which he used with great success the last few seasons through stints with the Tigers and Indians.

Davis (hamstring) is scheduled to come off the 10-day disabled list ahead of Tuesday's game against the Twins, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis will return to action in the minimum amount of time after the hamstring injury forced him to the DL last week. It's expected that Ryan LaMarre will be optioned to Triple-A to clear up a 25-man roster spot for Davis, who should immediately resume duties as the Athletics' everyday center fielder upon returning. Jaff Decker will presumably lose out on regular starts once Davis is back.

Davis (hamstring) was placed on the DL on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Davis had to sit out three consecutive games with this hamstring injury, and is now headed to the DL. The team has yet to elaborate on the severity of the ailment, but more information should become available in the coming days. While Davis is out, Jaff Decker will likely be added to Oakland's outfield.

Davis (hamstring) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The speedy outfielder was hopeful to return to action Sunday, but he'll be sidelined for a third straight game with a tight hamstring. The Athletics are still viewing Davis as day-to-day, but he'll give way in center field to Jaff Decker, who will also serve as the team's leadoff hitter in the series finale.

Davis (hamstring) hopes to be available for Sunday's series finale against the Mariners, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran is set to test out his hamstring prior to Saturday's game by running and taking some batting practice. He told reporters that he doesn't expect to be available off the bench Saturday, but added that Sunday is a more realistic return date. Jaff Decker will get the start in center in place of Davis for the second consecutive day.

Davis (hamstring) is not in the lineup Saturday against the Mariners, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The absence was expected after Davis landed on the injury report Friday with a hamstring injury. It's not considered overly serious, but the A's noted that the outfielder will likely miss "a day or two," so he should be considered questionable to return to action for Sunday's series finale. Jaff Decker will make another start in center field Saturday.
