Pedro Florimon (hamstring) made it through drills during batting practice without any issues on Friday, and will be available off the bench. Florimon was held out of Friday's lineup as a precautionary measure after he was removed from Thursday's game with a tight hamstring. Expect him to return to the lineup on Saturday.

Pedro Florimon (hamstring) is out of Friday's lineup against the Orioles. Florimon left Thursday's game with a tight right hamstring. He's already feeling better, but the Twins don't want to take any chances. Consider him day-to-day for now. Eduardo Escobar will fill in at shortstop Friday and bat ninth.

Pedro Florimon went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI against the Angels on Monday. Florimon figured to be a black hole at the bottom of the Twins' lineup, but he's 7-for-21 with four RBI and five walks in the early going. He'll keep starting at least until he cools off.

Pedro Florimon is the leading candidate start at shortstop for the Twins in 2013. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Saturday that Florimon's primary competition for the job, Brian Dozier, will play almost exclusively at second base during spring training. Florimon is an extremely skilled defender, but offers very little in the way of offensive aptitude. He has flashed double-digit stolen base potential in the minor leagues, but should be avoided in all but the very deepest of fantasy leagues.

Pedro Florimon went 3-for-3 with a walk, a steal and three runs scored against the A's on Monday. Florimon isn't going to hit -- no way, no how -- but he's good enough defensively that he's probably the Twins' best option at shortstop right now. AL-only leaguers should expect very little, but if he gets enough at-bats, he could have a tiny bit of value.

Twins purchased the contract of INF Pedro Florimon from Triple-A Rochester. He'll take the place of Brian Dozier on the active roster. Florimon, who was claimed off waivers from the Orioles last December, is a .249/.321/.354 hitter over parts of seven seasons in the minors, so we're not optimistic he'll be much better.
