Danks was decent with the Triple-A affiliate of the Phillies last season, swatting 27 doubles, but the outfielder just hasn't been able to translate it into big-league success. He also failed to garner a hit in four spring games with Texas, leading them to release him. Danks has seen some success at the Triple-A level over the years, so he could latch on with an organization in need of organizational outfield depth.

He'll join the Rangers on a minor league contract and it has not been announced at this point whether or not he'll receive an invite to major league spring training.

After playing in 50-plus games in each of the previous three seasons with the White Sox, Danks only managed to see time in four games with Philadelphia in 2015, totaling four at-bats. He's now 29, and clearly Danks is not in the rebuilding Phillies' long-term plans.

Danks was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki reports. While Jeff Francoeur made the Opening Day roster over Danks, that may only be a result of Danks still having options. Grady Sizemore will combine with Francoeur to replace Dominic Brown (Achilles) in right field at the start of the season, but Danks could replace Francoeur before long.

Danks and Grady Sizemore are the top candidates to start in right field for the Phillies on Opening Day, the team's official site reports. Domonic Brown will open the season on the 15-day disabled list which creates a starting spot in right field for at least a week or two into the regular season. Danks is 9-for-36 with two doubles and a home run this spring.

Danks remains in the mix for a spot on the Phillies' bench, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Danks, who was acquired off waivers in the offseason, has gone 6-for-23 with a home run this spring. He has one option left, so the Phillies may decide to keep him in the minors at the start of the season to provide additional depth.

The Phillies claimed Danks off waivers from the White Sox on Friday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Danks will compete for a bench job this spring. He can play all three outfield positions which should help with his chances of winning a job.

Danks was designated for assignment Thursday, Dan Hayes of CSN reports. The move was made to clear room on the 40-man for Emilio Bonifacio, who signed a one-year deal with the White Sox on Thursday. Danks appeared in 51 games for Chicago last season, hitting .222 with 10 RBI and 46 strikeouts. He had more success at Triple-A, where he hit .270 in 348 at-bats.

Danks was among the White Sox's roster additions Tuesday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. A little more room has opened in the White Sox's outfield in recent days with Alejandro De Aza heading to Baltimore, but Danks likely will not see much more than his usual fourth outfielder responsibilities. He should split time in left with Dayan Viciedo while backing up the other two outfield spots.

Danks was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. With an off-day Monday, the White Sox aren't required to make a tweak to their 25-man roster until Tuesday. However, they may be exchanging Danks for the recovering Adam Eaton (oblique), who started a rehab assignment Saturday. In any case, Danks should return to the big club once rosters expand in September.
