Schoop agreed to a contract Friday with Algodoneros de Union Laguna of the Mexican League, BeisbolPuro.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop never caught on with another team last season after being released by the Tigers in July, though he did recently participate in the Caribbean Series. He's still just 32 years old, but Schoop hasn't gotten a sniff from big-league clubs after putting up a lowly .559 OPS from 2022 through 2023.

The Tigers released Schoop on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
After being DFA'd by Detroit on Friday and clearing waivers, Schoop will now look to latch on with another club. The 31-year-old hasn't lived up to his $7.5 million salary, slashing just .213/.278/.272 on the year. Schoop figures to at least land a minor-league deal elsewhere, but his days of being a meaningful fantasy contributor are seemingly behind him.

Schoop was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Friday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop has lost his 40-man roster spot halfway into the final year of a two-year, $15 million agreement with Detroit. He had slashed just .213/.278/.272 with zero home runs through 55 games (151 plate appearances) this season after also struggling badly at the plate in 2022. The 31-year-old infielder seems likely to pass through waivers unclaimed given that he's still owed about $3.5 million.

Schoop is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Colorado, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Pressreports.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run Saturday, which is just his third multi-hit effort through 52 games this year. He came into Sunday with four starts in six games at third base since the demotion of Nick Maton last weekend, but Tyler Nevin will start at the hot corner in the series finale against the Rockies.

Schoop went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's extra-inning win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop started at third base and tallied his first two-hit effort since May 27. Since then, the veteran has hit just .170 across 21 games and he's batting .209 for the season. Schoop may continue to see starts at the hot corner, but he hasn't been a fantasy contributor to this point, and the Tigers could always decide to give younger players a look there as the season progresses.

Schoop isn't in the Tigers' lineup Friday against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Even with lefty Austin Gomber on the mound for Colorado, the right-handed Schoop will remain in the dugout Friday amid his offensive woes. Andy Ibanez will fill in at the hot corner and bat third.

Schoop is not in the starting lineup versus the Rangers on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop has struggled throughout the 2023 campaign, and in the month of June the veteran infielder has hit just .171/.231/.200 over 35 at-bats while picking up just one extra-base hit. Zack Short will play third base with Schoop out of the lineup.

Schoop went 2-for-4 with one double and two runs scored in Saturday's 7-3 victory over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop was in the starting lineup for the first time in three games and delivered his second multi-hit game of the season, launching a double in the eighth inning after a single in his first at-bat. With the emergence of Zach McKinstry, Schoop has been relegated to part-time duties for the Tigers. For the month of May, the 31-year-old has driven in just two runs over 30 at-bats.

Schoop is starting at second base and batting eighth in Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop has become a part-time player with Zach McKinstry emerging as the top option at second base. The veteran is still searching for his first home run, and he's slashing just .204/.271/.259. Fantasy managers can turn their attention elsewhere moving forward, unless Schoop is able to earn more playing time at some point and also looks better at the plate.

Schoop is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's tilt against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop is out of the lineup for a second consecutive game after going 0-for-3 during Friday's extra-innings loss to the Giants. Zach McKinstry is hitting eighth and playing second base for the series finale.
