Morris was traded to the Pirates on Thursday for a player to be named later, Andrew Gruman of FOX Sports Wisconsin reports. Morris was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs in late-January, but when both Matt Clark and Jason Rogers were optioned there in a recent slew of transactions, there simply wasn't a spot available for the former Brewers' minor league player of the year. He's unlikely to see much time at the big league level in Pittsburgh either, but should at least see steady reps in Triple-A ball until needed.

Morris cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Colorado Springs. The Brewers have also invited him to big league camp for spring training. Without a 40-man roster spot, Morris' path to Milwaukee is longer than it was this time last year. Plus, the addition of Adam Lind via trade in November gives the Brewers a proven veteran player capable of handling the large side of a platoon.

Morris was designated for assignment Monday, Bernie Pleskoff of MLB.com reports. Morris will be removed from the 40-man roster to clear space for Corey Knebel and Luis Sardinas, who were both acquired from the Rangers in Monday's Yovani Gallardo deal. Morris spent last season at Triple-A Nashville, where he hit .279 with 42 RBI and 11 home runs in 330 at-bats.

The Brewers promoted Morris to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday. Morris was assigned to Double-A Huntsville after returning from the disabled list last week, but his promotion indicates the Brewers felt he was ready to move back up to the top minor league level. Nashville first baseman Matt Clark has been raking lately, so it remains to be seen how the two will split the playing time at the position the rest of the way.

The Brewers activated Morris (foream) from the disabled list Thursday and optioned him to Double-A Huntsville. It's not entirely clear why Morris was demoted upon his activation, but the best guess is that he would have been a part-time player with Nashville, so he was sent to Huntsville to get regular at-bats. Morris' prospect star has faded considerably the last two years, but he will still have a few weeks to impress before the current campaign is over.

Morris (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with rookie-level Arizona on Thursday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Now five weeks removed from suffering a non-displaced fracture to his right ulna, Morris is ready to return to active competition in Arizona. He'll gradually work his way back to Triple-A Nashville, where he's hit .274/.316/.444 with 10 homers in 78 games this season, and he should have little trouble earning a September callup so long as he maintains his health.

Hunter Morris will miss the next six weeks after fracturing his right arm. The injury will keep him up for most of the rest of the minor league season. Morris has spent all year at Triple-A Nashville, batting .274/.316/.444 with 10 homers and 37 RBI over 78 games.

Brewers optioned 1B Hunter Morris to Triple-A Nashville. Morris was added to the 40-man roster over the winter, but the Brewers didn't show much faith in his ability to compete for the first base job when they brought in Mark Reynolds and Lyle Overbay. The 25-year-old could make his major league debut at some point this season.

Hunter Morris went 2-for-4 and scored a run in a losing effort against the Indians in Cactus League action on Sunday. Unfortunately, Morris fanned in his other two at-bats and is still hitting a paltry .125 (2-for-16) on the spring. With the Brewers first base job wide open for the taking, Morris needs to string together more days like this in order to seize the opportunity in front of him.
