Germen signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
Germen is looking to make his way back to the majors after spending the 2017 season in Japan, where he posted a 2.68 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 47 innings of relief for the Orix Buffaloes. He last appeared in the majors in 2016, though he struggled to a 5.31 ERA and 1.62 WHIP across 40.2 innings with the Rockies that season.

Germen signed a contract with the Orix Buffaloes to pitch in Japan in 2017, the Japan Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
German had a 5.31 ERA with 40.2 innings for the Rockies last season. At age 28, it's possible he could return to MLB if he thrives in Japan.

Germen accepted his assignment to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
He was designated for assignment earlier this month and will accept the move, staying in the Rockies' organization. The fact that he is no longer on the 40-man roster suggests he won't rejoin the big league club in September.

Germen was designated for assignment by the Rockies on Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's pretty incredible that Germen held onto his roster spot for as long as he did. The right-hander has been hit hard and often over the last two and a half months, giving up 18 runs on 25 hits while posting a 17:18 K:BB over 23.2 innings since the start of June. Colorado finally swapped him out Friday for right-hander Matt Carasiti.

Germen had a rough month of July, allowing 11 earned runs on 15 hits in nine innings pitched.
EDGE Analysis
Things just were going very well for Germen prior to the summer months, but the right-hander really cooled down when the weather heated up. This rough patch raised his ERA to 5.63, and to make matters worse, his K/9 now barely hovers above 7.0 after he only mustered five punchouts in July. The 28-year-old should remain in the Colorado bullpen for the time being since a good number of other relievers at the major league level are hurt right now, but it wouldn't be too surprising to see Germen shipped back to Triple-A once the Rockies' main relievers are healthy again.

Germen picked up his first save of the season Saturday against the Diamondbacks, allowing a hit and two walks while striking out one over an inning and one-third.
EDGE Analysis
Germen came into the game in the eighth inning to stop the bleeding after Chad Qualls struggled through two-thirds of an inning, but thanks to a four-run eighth inning, the 28-year-old was able to scour an unexpected save after pitching the ninth as well. Don't expect too many more saves going forward, though, especially considering his ERA still sits at a lofty 4.18 and the fact that Jake McGee (knee) will be returning from the disabled list in the not-too-distant future.

Germen holds a 1.88 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 14.1 innings out of the Colorado bullpen this season.
EDGE Analysis
Out of all the arms in the Rockies bullpen, Germen has been one of the most pleasant surprises, as he hadn't held an ERA below 3.93 in his big league career until now. His 12:7 K:BB ratio leaves something to be desired, but his 93.3 percent strand rate greatly makes up for that blemish. This success is hardly sustainable considering his low strikeout rate and the abnormally low .220 BABIP he's holding opposing hitters to, but the 28-year-old could garner a bit more usage out of the bullpen if he can continue to get batters out like he has been doing.

Germen was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The Rockies made six roster moves ahead of Friday's series opener against the Dodgers, adding Germen, Carlos Estevez and starter Jon Gray to the active roster. Germen has started the year off well in the minors, posting a 7:1 K:BB without allowing an earned run in six innings. He figures to provide length in the middle innings for the time being.

Manager Walt Weiss indicated Saturday that Germen will begin the season in the minors, Nick Groke of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Germen joined the Rockies in spring training as a non-roster invitee, but his bid for a roster spot fell short. The 28-year-old did all he could (1.80 ERA 1.50 WHIP with nine strikeouts in 10 innings) to grab a spot in the bullpen, but others in a similar situation also had success. He now appears set to serve in an organizational depth role, but could have his contract purchased later in the season should further injuries occur.

Germen received an invitation to spring training Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Germen compiled a 4.42 ERA in 38.2 innings with the Cubs and Rockies last season, so unless he can vastly improve his pitching, it'll be tough to crack the 25-man roster.
