Blue Jays released RHP Frank Francisco. Francisco signed a minor league contract with the Jays in late June but lasted only a couple of weeks. The 34-year-old allowed six runs -- five earned -- over 3 2/3 innings earlier this season in the White Sox bullpen. He hasn't been an effective reliever since 2011.

Frank Francisco has declared free agency. He was outrighted off the White Sox' 40-man roster and has elected to seek a job elsewhere rather than report to Triple-A. Francisco will find a gig somewhere, but it will surely be a minor league deal.

White Sox sent RHP Frank Francisco outright to Triple-A Charlotte. Francisco had been designated for assignment, but he's cleared waivers and agreed to remain in the organization. The veteran reliever allowed five earned runs in 3 2/3 innings of work with the big club before losing his roster spot.

White Sox designated RHP Frank Francisco for assignment. The club needed a spot on the roster for Chris Sale's return from the disabled list, and Francisco was the odd man out. The right-hander made just four appearances with the team, allowing five earned runs in 3 2/3 innings of work.

White Sox purchased the contract of RHP Frank Francisco from Triple-A Charlotte. The 34-year-old former closer was limited to just eight appearances last season due to elbow troubles. He was off to a terrific start at Charlotte though which prompted the move, hurling eight scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out 12. It's not out of the question that he could work his way into save situations if he performs well.

Mets manager Terry Collins said that Frank Francisco (thumb) is still "a day or so off" from returning. Francisco has been on the shelf since taking a liner off his right thumb last Saturday. He's no longer wearing a heavy wrap, though, and should be available out of the bullpen by the weekend.

Frank Francisco was diagnosed with a thumb contusion after X-rays came back negative on Saturday. Francisco suffered the injury when he was drilled by a Logan Morrison comebacker during the eighth inning of Saturday's game. He'll likely miss a few days but should return to the Mets bullpen at some point this week.

Frank Francisco is heading for X-rays on his thumb after being hit by a line drive off the bat of Logan Morrison during the eighth inning of Saturday's game. It initially appeared that the ball got Francisco in the right wrist, but it was actually his thumb that took the brunt of the hit. Mets skipper Terry Collins indicated that his thumb has already swelled significantly. Even if there is no structural damage, expect Francisco to miss a few games.
