Aybar was diagnosed with a fractured foot Monday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
It appears that Aybar will be sidelined for quite some time after fouling a ball off his foot during Friday's game. Initial reports suggest that the shortstop will likely miss the remainder of the season, though he could return in September in a best-case scenario. Allen Cordoba and the recently-promoted Dusty Coleman will handle shortstop duties in his absence.

Aybar (foot) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Andy Green had suggested this was likely after Aybar fouled a ball off his foot Friday. The Padres are expected to bring up another shortstop after Saturday's game to provide depth behind Allen Cordoba.

Aybar (foot) is likely headed to the 10-day disabled list, Dennis Lin of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move has not yet been made, but manager Andy Green indicated Aybar is DL-bound after fouling a ball off his foot during Friday's game. Allen Cordoba is starting at shortstop Saturday and it seems likely that he will see the bulk of the work there in Aybar's absence.

Aybar is out of the lineup Saturday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Aybar has assumed the everyday role at shortstop in San Diego, starting 17 consecutive games at the position, but is mired in a tough slump over the past seven days, going just 3-for-25 in that span. The 33-year-old heads to the bench Saturday, allowing Allen Cordoba to get the start in his place.

Aybar started four consecutive games at shortstop for the Padres, going 4-for-13 with three runs scored over that span.
EDGE Analysis
Playing time opened up for the seasoned vet after San Diego designated Chase d'Arnaud for assignment. Allen Cordoba has been M.I.A. over Aybar's recent run of playing time, but he could resurface at some point. The 33-year-old is batting just .229 on the season, but his six home runs and six stolen bases put him on the cusp of being a useful fantasy asset in deep and NL-only formats.

Aybar is not in the lineup Thursday against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Despite going 3-for-4 in Wednesday's win over the Braves, Aybar will head to the bench for what appears to be a routine day off. Allen Cordoba will take over for the veteran at shortstop.

Aybar went 2-for-3 with his sixth home run in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Andy Green had been deploying a three-man rotation at short in the month of June, but a recent injury to Allen Cordoba (hand) opened up playing time for Aybar. The veteran has responded with a pair of home runs in three starts over the Padres' last four games. Overall, the 33-year-old has been disappointing (.221/.295/.354) at the plate, but a light power/speed combo (six homers and six steals) gives him value in very deep fantasy leagues while he is seeing semi-regular starts.

Aybar went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in Wednesday's win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Aybar, who has never hit more than 10 home runs in a major-league season, is already up to five this year in just 188 at-bats. The 33-year-old has also chipped in six steals, but his overall line leaves much to be desired (.218/.288/.340). His appeal is limited mostly to NL-only leagues.

Aybar went 2-for-4 with a double in Wednesday's win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran got the start at short after sitting on the bench for San Diego's previous two contests. There appears to be a timeshare developing between he and Allen Cordoba (bats right-handed), but it isn't a traditional platoon as the switch-hitting Aybar got the start against a southpaw Wednesday. While the former offers a stronger bat in the lineup, the latter provides value to the club with solid defense up the middle. Chase d'Arnaud remains in the equation despite not starting lately. It would be best for deep-league owners to take in a larger sample size before deciding if any of the Padres' shortstops can settle into a regular role.

Aybar is not in the lineup Monday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Aybar will head to the bench after collecting three straight starts at shortstop. Allen Cordoba will draw the start at shortstop in his stead, and if Aybar could eventually lose his job to the younger Cordoba if he doesn't pick it up at the plate moving forward.
