Farris signed a minor league deal with the Twins on Tuesday that includes an invite to spring training, Darren Wolfson of 1500ESPN.com reports. The invite to attend major league spring training seems like simply a courtesy, as Farris is a .272/.316/.355 career hitter at the Triple-A level and isn't likely to reach the majors next season. While he still has some speed, Farris hasn't played shortstop since joining the Twins organization in 2013 and the team already has several options in center.

Twins re-signed INF Eric Farris to a minor league contract. He did not receive an invitation to spring training. Farris spent all of 2013 between Double- and Triple-A with the Twins, batting just .249/.303/.313 with three homers and 23 stolen bases. The 27-year-old is just minor league depth.

Brewers recalled INF Eric Farris from Triple-A Nashville. Alex Gonzalez was placed on the paternity leave list late Friday night, so Farris will give Brewers' manager Ron Roenicke an option off the bench for the next couple of days. The 26-year-old isn't worth considering in fantasy leagues.

Brewers recalled INF Eric Farris from Triple-A Nashville. He'll replace the injured Rickie Weeks on the active roster. Farris, 25, was batting .256/.308/.358 with six homers, 36 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 437 plate appearances with Triple-A Nashville this season. The Brewers will likely add an infielder in the day couple of days, so he's unlikely to have much fantasy value.

During an appearance on WTMJ in Milwaukee on Thursday morning, Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said that prospect infielder Eric Farris will replace the injured Rickie Weeks (ankle) on the active roster. Farris, 25, is batting .256/.308/.358 with six homers, 36 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 437 plate appearances with Triple-A Nashville this season. He will be added to the roster prior to Tuesday's game. The Brewers have zero depth in their infield right now, so look for them to add someone before the trade deadline.
