Storen's velocity has been down to 88-90 mph this spring from the 91.8 mph he averaged on fastball last season, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. He's given up nine runs and eight hits in 4.7 innings this spring.
EDGE Analysis
Storen is set to begin the season as a top setup man and could get a chance to save games if Raisel Iglesias' elbow and hip injuries keep him out for the start of the regular season. However, Storen's poor spring and drop in velocity are cause for concern.

The Reds would like to be able to employ a four-man rotation at closer this season, rather than use a traditional bullpen construction. Storen would be part of that mix.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds have the opportunity to experiment with their bullpen roles, in part because they are rebuilding, and because they don't have an established full-time closer. Storen has closing experience, but is coming off his worst season in the majors. In particular his home run rate spiked, and if that continues it'll be hard to earn the trust of Bryan Price in the ninth inning.

Storen signed a one-year contract with the Reds on Tuesday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The numbers for Storen between Toronto and Seattle last season leave much to be desired, but was able to land a major league deal from the pitching-needy Reds on the strength of his larger body of work. Storen has posted a 3.31 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 98 saves in parts of seven major league seasons. He saved 29 games for the Nationals in 2015 and figures to enter the back-end mix with Cincinnati, perhaps working as part of a closer committee alongside Raisel Iglesias and Tony Cingrani.

Storen (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day DL on Sunday, MLB.com's Greg Johns reports.
EDGE Analysis
Storen last appeared with the Mariners on Aug. 19 before shoulder inflammation set in. After coming over in a trade from the Blue Jays on July 26, Storen endured a rough debut with his new team, but pitched much better prior to landing on the DL, allowing just one earned run over his last nine innings. He'll likely work in middle relief now that he's healthy again.

Storen (shoulder) is expected to be activated off the disabled list Sunday, the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
A sore right shoulder sent Storen to the DL. He threw a scoreless inning Friday with Triple-A Tacoma and had no problems. The Mariners' bullpen has had trouble recently in the seventh and eighth innings, so there's a chance Storen could see higher leverage situations.

Storen was placed on the disabled list with an inflamed right shoulder.
EDGE Analysis
Storen was placed on the DL retroactive to Aug. 20, making him eligible to come back September 4. For the month of August, Storen had allowed just one run over eight innings (eight games). However, his ERA and WHIP are still at high marks of 5.77 and 1.47 for the season. In a corresponding move, the Mariners recalled Guillermo Heredia from Triple-A Tacoma.

Storen was credited with his first win as a Mariner after getting Albert Pujols to fly out with the bases loaded to end the seventh inning Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Storen entered with two on and two out and walked Mike Trout to load the bases. The Mariners trailed 6-4 at the time, but Storen kept it close enough for the Mariners to rally for his three runs in the bottom half of the frame and give him the win. After getting drilled in his Mariners debut, Storen has pitched four scoreless outings (three innings) with two hits and a walk.

Storen was rocked Wednesday, surrendering four runs over 1.1 innings in his debut for the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
After being traded for Tuesday, Storen was quickly put to use by his new club, entering the game in the sixth inning down 3-0 and trying to keep things close. He succeeded in the sixth but was shelled in the seventh, raising his ERA to an astonishing 7.01 on the season. The Mariners took a chance that Storen would pitch better in a different environment, and after just one day that chance looks questionable. While it's better than being designated for assignment as he was with his old club, Storen is far from seeing any high-pressure situations with the Mariners, and has value only in very deep leagues.

Storen was traded to the Mariners on Tuesday, along with cash considerations, in exchange for Joaquin Benoit.
EDGE Analysis
He had just been designated for assignment by the Blue Jays a couple days earlier, and the Mariners apparently wanted to see if they could help salvage his season. His velocity has been down a couple ticks, from an average fastball of 94.1 mph last season to 92.5 mph this season. He is unlikely to regain his prior form in just a two month span with a new team, but even if he does, he will be behind Steve Cishek and Edwin Diaz in the pecking order for late-inning work.

The Blue Jays designated Storen for assignment Sunday, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a stunning fall from grace for Storen, who was acquired by the Blue Jays in January with the hope that he'd challenge for the closing role. After losing out on that gig to Roberto Osuna in spring training, Storen has since toiled in middle relief, amassing 6.21 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 33.1 innings. After the veteran served up three runs in his lone frame Saturday against the Mariners, the Blue Jays determined that they had seen enough. Based on his previous track record, Storen could attract interest from other teams via trade or waivers as a reclamation project, but it's unlikely that he'll be in the mix for saves no matter where he ultimately lands.
